Any of you guys that use Defy have a 3 month wait for 1st follow up? I thought it was 6 weeks.
I emailed them just to get a heads up on how the follow up would unfold, since I thought it would be in a week or so, but was informed it was set for 3 months after starting the protocol.

I'm not complaining, just wondering if that is the norm. I thought since levels should be steady in 40ish days it was the time to check numbers and tweak.

Also my wife is contacting them today to set up a consultation. She is having what she thinks are hormonal issues, hot flashes, trouble sleeping...pretty much everything on the Eve questionnaire.

I told her to ask about the scream cream....maybe we will be able to do a review in the near future.:)

My followup when they switched me from T cream to Tcyp shots was 6 weeks. They must do this on a case by case basis.
I would have had no problems waiting 3 months to pay for another blood test and consult.
I would have reduced my dose if things did not feel right. Oh well count yourself lucky.

Thanks for the reply FL.

I'd rather pay for the labs/consult at 6 weeks. Especially since its my first protocol. I'd like to know where I'm at. The first week, week and a half when I wasn't shut down was great. Not bad now but libido is down and pde5 inhibitors aren't working as well.

One of their RN's said steady serum levels don't usually happen for 11-12 weeks.
I just told them to forward my emails to Dr. Saya as he is the one that set up the original protocol.

Yes I felt the same as you in the beginning. I wanted to know where I was.
In the last 14 months I have paid for 9 blood tests and 4 consults.
It's starting to get a bit old and expensive. I'll be complaining at my consult scheduled for next week.

I see where your'e coming from. I'm hoping to get dialed in and on a more stretched out schedule.
I already feel a bit better in most ways. Not optimal but definitely better than before.
If I could get that first week to week and a half feeling all the time that would be super.

I waited 12 weeks for my first follow up, that was over 3 years ago. When I make adjustments to my protocol, I still like to wait at least 12 weeks. I'm always wondering about the placebo effect, I need time to see how I'm really feeling.

At Defy you can call and order labs, set up a mini consult at any time you please. You can also just do labs and not have to do a consult if you just want to take a look at your numbers. if they look off, then order the mini consult. keep in mind, a number is just a number. no cookie cutter protocols for getting dialed in.

Then order the labs and consult at 6 weeks, you can do consults earlier, or order labs whenever. Just gotta call.

Thanks Vince,
That makes me feel better. In my first post after starting my protocol I stated the placebo effect was probably at least partly responsible for how great I felt.

When they said it would be six weeks, I told her I'd like to get one done at 6. She said no, since you typically don't get get steady state serum levels at 11-12 weeks, your body is still trying to metabolize the new protocol.

I'm telling you from my experience with them you can order labs whenever you want.

Yeah I know I could order labs, and press the issue on a mini consult and I still may. Just relaying what I thought was a strange email exchange, and hoping to get feedback on whether anyone else had the 3 month wait for labs.

They do that to minimize expense for patients, but if you want to do it sooner, that's up to you. This way people aren't forced to spend more than is necessary. You get a choice in following up sooner, or saving money and following protocol.
