androgenic alopecia and ketoconazole shampoo

This is a cautionary informative review of ketoconazole shampoo a.k.a. nizoral.

To combat the negative effects of dht on my hair follicles I bought otc nizoral and later the 2% prescription strength. I shampoo daily, and used it daily. And I was shedding more than ever!!

I happened to skip the ketoconazole shampoo one day, and shed a fraction of myuusual amount! After research I came to the conclusion that I was experiencing "keto burn" from excessive use.

I have since tapered my use to 2x/ wk and using a regular daily shampoo in-between ketoconazole shampooing. The results have been amazing.

Just throwing it out there.

I use it daily and have not have had any reactions with the over the counter Nizoral (1 percent). Have not tried prescription strength (2%).

I definitely was shedding like crazy, still blasting away, down to 10.4%bf at 199 lbs, the only thing I changed was less frequent use of nizoral.
I may be the exception.
