19 Year Old Blood Test Results (question about Estradiol)

Good afternoon ExcelMale,

I was recently referred to this website by a fellow member of a lifting community via ********.

A little background info:

I'm 6'1", 19 years old and I have been working out since March 2012 although I have just been getting serious and understanding the process and being under the guidance of a professional competition prep coach for the last 50 weeks.

I always thought I had high estrogen due to my unfortunate fat stores which are very, very stubborn, as said by my coach as well who coaches nearly 300+ others.

I decided to get blood work done and below I have posted the results.

As knowledgeable as my coach is, I don't think he is as well versed in hormones as the ExcelMale community is, thus, I have come to you guys. However, my Coach did in fact mention that my higher estrogen levels could be due to a couple of things which make sense to me.

1) A hormonal imbalance I had during puberty. (I was very unhealthy, slightly obese)
2) If I had ever dealt with depression growing up.

I have a hunch it could be a little bit of both because all I did when I was growing up is play on the computer. I had no friends. Didn't go out much at all. This may have psychologically messed with me. I very will could have been depressed, and I think I was too.

I appreciate any and all help/advice on this matter.

Other info:
-very very stubborn fat stores even after cutting nearly 50+ pounds (low back)
-sometimes I'm tired
-I don't have much of a sex drive/strong libido
-Don't usually wake up with morning wood
-My diet is 100% spot on - I track each calorie, protein, carb, and fat I consume. As I said I am very serious about lifting/nutrition being under guidance with my coach.

I guess what I'm asking is could any one part of the ExcelMale community possibly diagnose why my estradiol is high? And how I would go about possibly lowering it?

Again, I really appreciate any insight.

Welcome to our community.

Your estradiol is fine. Your doctor used the old estradiol test that overestimates estradiol.

Your entire blood work is super clean and perfect. You are very healthy. You are obviously not taking liver or kidney toxic supplements. Yes, your total testosterone could probably be higher for your age. However, not knowing your BMI, sleep habits, "party drug/alcohol" use, etc makes it hard for me to tell you how to naturally bring it up.

I was a lot like you when I was a teenager. Only had friends when they needed to copy my homework. It sucked but it made a strong man. So hang in there.

Do you take antidepressants? What psych meds have you taken (if any)?

You may want to ask your doctor for a basic thyroid profile including TSH, free T3 and free T4 just to make sure they are OK.

Hey Nelson! Thank you so much for responding so quickly.

Currently, I am taking summer classes at my college.

I do not drink, do not smoke (never tried), do not do drugs (never tried). I don't party.

I have never taken antidepressants. Never taken any psych meds.

I sleep 6-8 hours per night. Usually between 6-7 though.

I will read the links you referenced for sure. Thanks for those.

I can also see about getting those profile done as well.

If you need any other information I am more than happy to provide it. Just let me know!

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
