I had a terrible experience with anavar several years ago...looking back, the crippling anxiety I experienced about 3 weeks in to a 50mg/day cycle was similar to when I crashed by estrogen via anastrozole.

I hear you on the anxiety!

Nelson, does oxandrolone increase the risk of tendon injuries? I've read conflicting opinions about its deleterious effect on tendons, and conversely its ability to strengthen tendons.

why would one be prescribed oxandrolone from a TRT clinic. What is its clinical use that can be justified for HRT?

Nelson, would you mind answering this question please?

I had the same issue lately. We discuss the potential reasons here:

I mixed Oxandrolone along with Drostanolone.. along with my Test Cyp... I have severe ED now. So severe... Viagra 100mg doesn't even work.

I was just trying to see if somehow the ED would get better using different compounds. No... it got worse.

The strong effect of DHT analogs like oxandrolone on 5 alpha redactase just like finasteride can cause ED and eventual depression as I have found out in the last few months.

So DHT analogs reduce 5-alpha reductase?

What dose were u using per day again Nelson?

Would u ever consider using a low dose of Oxandrolone sublingual preworkout, say 5-10mgs, just for some immediate and short lived benefits peri-workout, or Oxandrolone is totally out for u as a compound ur interested in using?

Gman86 - I was only on 10mg of Oxandrolone per every 24 hours. Clearly on a proper diet it helps with fat loss. It will definitely help in cutting. I noticed severe shoulder pain in the joint area while doing shoulder presses. Even chest flys hurt more than usual. I never got lab work done while on it. Don't really know where my E2 was? After 10-14 days being off of it... shoulder pain went away. Chest fly pain went away. I was only taking it to see if it would benefit someway with my ED issue. It made things worse.

Earlier this morning I posted on 4 different FB groups asking how anavar made everyone feel, mainly in regards to mood and libido/ erections, and a bunch of guys replied and every single one of them loved it. They all reported that it either had a neutral effect on mood and energy or that it improved both, and a lot of guys reported that it improved libido, and some reported improved erections. Not one single guy reported that it had a negative effect on mood or libido/ erections

I have seen a few women report on Reddit some depression and decreased libido while using low dose Oxandrolone/ anavar, but no men that I came across. I did see a few guys on T-nation report similar symptoms to u and Nelson’s experiences. But it definitely seems rare that anavar/ oxandrolone results in negative side effects for men, when using exogenous test. Literally not one guy had anything bad to say about their experiences with it out of all 4 FB groups. I wish we knew exactly why u and Nelson experienced the symptoms u did, and if they can be mitigated while using Oxandrolone somehow. For instance, if ur symptoms are in fact due to low E2 or DHT, I would assume a simple fix would be to just up ur test dose

Someone in on of the Facebook groups wrote this;

“I've read the studies on Oxandrolone and I've got good news for you: The 5Alpha reductase thing is a misconception, Oxandrolone doesn't inhibit the enzyme like finasteride does, (it actually does absolutely nothing to the 5 alpha reductase) it's just ALREADY 5-alpha- reduced, meaning that it can't be aromatised and have therefore no estrogenic nor progestinic activity”

I'm just going to add 10 years ago... yes I was on Anavar 10mg every 24 hours and it helped with erections. Again, 10 years ago... never ran any labs. So I don't know how to base it off of?

I was taking Deca and Test together... and erections were good with the help of 100mg of Viagra. I started mixing Anavar and Masteron together and totally wiped out my momentum. So, again... I'm sure there's a variety of different reasons lab work wise why I'm suffering... but i'm 44 now... and Anavar just created joint pain and ache pain while on it. I wouldn't mind this if it fixed my ED issues... but it totally crashed everything.

Sure... it could be E2 issues... could be a lot of things. No way of knowing.

Hmm, ya it really good be so many things. I’ve been on test and deca for a while now and have zero issues with erections. Been experimenting with aromasin lately and so far so good. Up to 1/2 tab E5D. Been on the aromasin since 9/7/21. Have a bunch of Oxandrolone left, so decided to take 15mg sublingually the other day preworkout, after watching a few videos talking about the benefits of taking anavar sublingually before a workout, and holy sh*t, it was fckn awesome lol. I only workout 3 days per week, atm, due to working so much, so it would only be 45mg/ week total. But I’m hoping this is something I can do indefinitely. I was taking 15mg/ day for around 3 months, and I don’t think it made me feel bad subjectively or anything, and didn’t mess with sexual function at all, but it lowered my HDL a tiny bit, which wasn’t too bad, but it dropped my SHBG from mid 30’s to 11, which I didn’t like. So hoping taking 15mg sublingually 3x/ week is something I can sustain for the long term. Cuz using it like that preworkout has made my workouts a lot more fun and enjoyable. And it helped me lift a little heavier, which will obv help with putting on lean muscle tissue overtime, which I’m not mad at. And I think it helped with endurance and reps as well. And with it being in and out of my system so quickly it should reduce any side effects long term. Which I’m honestly not even worried about with my dosage only being 45mg/ week total. Seems like a really good balance of benefits vs side effects doing it this way

I’ve experimented with a ton of different protocols over the years, and one thing that has never been a problem for me is erections. But since erections are mostly about blood flow and cardiovascular health, I attribute me never having any problems to me being a healthy freak and always working out and always eating extremely healthy, and always making sure I get in all my micronutrients each day, mostly from whole foods. For anyone having issues with erections, the first thing I would look at is cardiovascular health and their diet and exercise. As well as sleep. What’s ur diet look like?

Appreciate the post Gman86. That's why this is very frustrating for me. No signs of any blockages... or cardio issues. Diet is perfect. I've been running like a machine for 3-4 years now. Only thing you can conclude now... this is a brain issue? In which... I don't think an MRI would tell you much??? Or I've over worked myself... causing severe damage while extremely low on testosterone for years... in which I didn't know?

Regardless... I don't know if this is even reversible? Even when I was running ok ED wise... I still had to take 100mg of viagra... now that doesn't even work. Everyday I scan these boards looking for answers... something to try new... or differently... and everything is a dead end.

Mentally, I knew there was something wrong 3-4 years ago... I still feel there's something wrong. I'm sure it's correlated to ED issues. But when a doctor says you're ok... what more can you do?

Where’s ur E2, prolactin and DHT at?

What does ur diet look like? Most of the time when someone says their diet is “perfect” they think it’s perfect but it’s actually quite a ways off

I appreciate your concern. Everything has been checked... and everything is normal. There seems to be a more serious issue in which again... all the doctors claim everything looks normal.

My PCP claims I'm depressed. I was prescribed Escitalopram 5mg back in September 2020. I still haven't taken the drugs because I don't feel depressed. I would only imagine this drug would make my ED worse... or perhaps even my life worse. I don't want to live on mental drugs for the rest of my life.

I'm going to hope that it's my TSH. It was on the rise the last time it was checked but my Endo said he didn't want to raise the T4. I'm at 25mcg right. I have a feeling the TSH is high. But according to my doctor... not high enough to raise the T4 dose.

U definitely don’t need any meds

I would really look into diet if I were u. The body cannot function properly without getting the micronutrients it needs. Are u eating organ meats or taking desiccated organ supplements? Are u getting iodine in ur diet? My money is ur not, so to expect ur body to function properly without them is absolutely insane, no offense. It’s actually the opposite. If ur not getting these things on a regular basis, along with all the other micronutrients the body needs, I would be confused if everything was functioning properly. If ur not giving ur body what it needs, it doesn’t make sense to be surprised when things don’t function properly. I know it’s not what u want to hear, but just trying to save u time and aggravation. There’s no reason why u can’t look into all the avenues ur looking into for solutions, but in the meantime u need to give ur body what it needs
