Nelson -

First off, thanks for this site. It's been a great way to get through the reams of information that is very often contradicting.

I'm 41 yrs old. I've been on Chlomid for over a year and although T levels have gone up from 250 to about 600, I'm not getting the increased energy or sex drive I would have expected from higher T.

I've seen several Urologists/Specialists. Since I am not a fan at all of needles, one physician recommends I do Pellets with HCG (I still want to have kids someday). You had mentioned in the post above some success with Pellets but this looks like it was a few years back. Do you have the same feelings now? The other doc says Pellets aren't a good option as you can't modify dosing as quickly. He wants me to do the shots every week of TRT and HCG. I cringe at the idea of using needles this much in a week but also don't want to do pellets if not ideal. I was also looking up Striant which seems to have never taken off? Not much info out there on that recently.

Thank You for reviewing and many thanks for helping moderate these threads.

If you're looking to remain fertile I will stay on Clomid, after you're done having children then I would consider going on trt.

I bet folks will think I am a shill for Lee Myer, BUT I am not.
He has a great discussion on the various types of TRT to include a discussion of pellets.
Get his book and read that section. He also does a great job of discussing keeping fertile and the options that are out there.
"Natural Versus Testosterone Therapy" by Lee Myer.
Based on what I have read on pellets one should run the opposite way.

The essential problem with pellets is that you have no control over your protocol for weeks, actually, months, following insertion. Estradiol spikes in the wake of implantation? Well, add an AI to the mix. But be careful, you may crash your e2 because your e2 - along with your serum testosterone - is a moving target following pellet insertion. Injections permit quick and reasonably easy protocol modificationn.

daveymoore1 - some do like the creams, I see you have not mentioned that as an option. Is there a reason for that? I personally like injections. I started my journey with pellets and it was a bad idea, quickly switched to injections after finding this site.

When I started my journey on TRT therapy we discussed pellets or injection. When I was told what pellets would cost it was a no brainer injection was the way to go.

I don't ever read too many happy stories about pellets, just saying ...

Don't fear the needle too much. You can just as easily go with a 29g or 31g x 5/16" insulin pen, and inject SubQ in the belly area. Takes a minute or so to load the syringe, but it's next to nothing as far as injecting goes. I even do 27g x 1/2" into the lower/outer thigh, been doing it for several years, works fine too!

Either way, it's not like at the blood bank with 16g harpoons!!

you probably would not mind the needle like you think you would, use smaller gauge, I use 27g for shoulder and glute, your doc might tell you larger, but get smaller, when I first started trt the nurse called and told me to draw with an 18g and inject with a 21g, lol, I just said okay.

My buddy uses pellets. He like them but from what he says it does not seem as good as injections. He has been way over range and then as the pellets dissolve he is below range. Another time he has a large sore spot after an insert. Works for him though.

I did pellets for almost two years...the cycle was noticeable, thought not unbearable. The plus was my libido would skyrocket for around six weeks and then level off at a nice place. I never get the skyrocket effect with injections...just a steady level of libido at or about the same level as the trough on pellets.

Here is why I switched from pellets to injections: my ass only has so much surface area...I was 49 years old when I started...I had eight insertions done so I had eight little scars at the injections site...at the rate of four injections a year for another 20 years...that is 80 more injection sites and 80 more little red scars. That is unnecessary when injections are a viable option. Plus, the two weeks of soreness after insertions...the inability to do some types of lifting for a week due to the injection site being fresh...injections are nice and neat and much more manageable.
