What is hormonal balance exactly?

I understand the basics, appropriate testing for Total T, free T, E2, and more along with appropriate tests to watch out for important side effects like elevated hematocrit, or hemoglobin. I often however see members refer to the need for "hormonal balance". Looking thru the site, perhaps I missed it, but I see recommendations on levels of Total T, free T, E2 etc, but while members talk about what the levels should be, no one ever defines what is hormonal balance? Is it simply having appropriate levels of each hormone, or is there something else? If someone feels better on higher total T, and has higher free T as a result, yet also has a higher level of E2, without side effects, and is a low risk for gynecomastia, are they considered out of balance?

I would say for most it would be your levels at age 21. That should give you your best hormonal balance. That's why it varies for everyone.

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Dihydrotestosterone is a potent androgen derived from testosterone. Affects hair growth, prostate health, and masculinization effects.

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
