Weight gain with cypionate.

I am 52 y/o and currently injecting 400 mg of Testosterone Cypionate on a weekly basis. I workout 6 days per week with heavy weights and also am doing cardio 3-4 days per week. Along with this, my diet is a mix of protein and good carbs. In about 45 days, I have went from 245 to 270 today. I know muscle weighs more than fat, but not happy about what the scale says. I am making some good gains with strength and size, but I want to lean down and really don't want to gain weight. Is is safe to assume that taking Cypionate while trying to cut weight is not the way to go. I have read that Cypionate is more for bulking??? I was on the gel, but that was doing nothing and then my Dr. gave me the Cypionate. Now granted, I am taking more than was prescribed. But what was prescribed was doing nothing for me. I feel great other than the weight gain and being a little puffy.

Just looking for some answers...

Higher doses of testosterone over 200 mg/week enter into what we call supraphysiologic doses (above what the body would normally produce). Lean body mass increases with increased doses, but so does the amount of red blood cells and blood pressure in many men. Increased red blood cells can eventually make your blood more viscous and harder to pump by your heart. Some men manage this issue by donating blood to keep their red blood cells in check. Other issues of higher T doses are decreased good cholesterol (HDL), increased acne is some men, increased estradiol over 45 pg/ml (which may cause growth of breast tissue, water retention and ED). A smart bodybuilder knows how to minimize all of these problems (although low HDL is difficult to raise at high T doses). You can read more about these issues in the following posts:

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
