Hi family,

I recently started testosterone replacement therapy and wanted to start propecia. I believe that the degree and number of side effects would be less with a person on TRT vs not on TRT . I recently tested my DHT levels and I was at 37, normal range is between 16-75. Do you think I can take propecia safely if I micro dose and keep my levels between normal ranges? I get tested every 3 to 6 months to check my T and DHT levels. Is there anything else I should take to help with sides besides cialis? Also I feel so amazing right now there's no way I would stop TRT.

Dr. Rand Mcclain a doctor that specializes in TRT stated out of 5k of his male patients ONLY 12 patients had sides from propecia and after stopping propecia they were fine with in two weeks. Additionally any new patient that came to him for the so called "PFS" he was able to get them feeling good and normal with a trt protocol.

TRT Protocol
150mg weekly split into micro dose every other day
900Iu HCG split into 3x a week
Ameridex 1mg week

Suppressing a natural hormone is not a good idea, you want to keep DHT in the normal range, adjust your TRT dosage. You say you just started TRT, that is why you are experiencing symptoms.

There have been men who only got worse after stopping propecia, they never recovered because it's assumed they suffered receptor damage.

The Post-Finasteride Syndrome is a serious state of permanent sexual, mental, and physical side effects which do not resolve after quitting the drug, most often accompanied by an acquired form of secondary hypogonadism and post-drug loss of androgenic action, which remains highly resistant to hormonal treatments aimed at restoring Testosterone/DHT’s effects in the male body to pre-drug virility levels. It is also surmised by the few specialists in the medical field that a type of receptor or “brain damage” has occurred. As often seen with such damage, recovery is very slow or now questioned whether possible at all. Needless to say, men suffering from PFS are plagued with any physical, mental, and emotional symptoms that have led to long term depression, marital problems and divorce, and now several reports cases of suicide.

Personally I don't think it's worth the risk. Even though I've been losing my hair since the age of 12, I enjoy my libido too much to take a chance of risk losing it. The bad effects are irreversible.

Study explains why patients treated with Propecia may have increased depression

Thank you for your replay, That article is so scary, I took propecia for 3 months in 2015 and a year and half later my endocrine system crashed but I did not correlate the two together because it happened awhile after I stopped taking propecia. Am I crazy for wanting to try topical? It has be studied and has far less risk.

Its insane that this drug is legal and FDA approved. I honestly took it without thinking twice back in 2015. It may have caused my issues, I'm assuming it would be safe while i'm on trt If it causes receptor damage then its way to much of a risk as a oral. What do you think about topical fin? Its 1/10th less systematic then oral.

When I was doing 50mg twice weekly 2 months ago I had high DHT symptoms, hair above right ear was just gone, dropped that protocol 2 months ago and that bald patch is filled in already. You can play around with your TRT protocols without resorting to medications to control DHT.

I even had the ends of my hair curling on the back of my neck, it's back to being straight. Lately my hair has been growing like weeds, always finding hair all over my keyboard, but hair volume is plentiful. Also noticing lots of hair on my arms and legs.

I believe PFS is largely nocebo phenomenon but I think a small subset of men may not react well with the medication. The Harvard study was quite the slam dunk against PFS being an actual "thing" as the placebo groups reported more sexual side effects compared to the control group. Saying that I still wouldn't gamble with it personally and would rather be a bald buff dude then one of the few men that finasteride may give issues to.

Is Propecia, then, effective? It depends what is meant by “effective.” Based on Figure 1 in Section 14 of the FDA labeling (and recalling the caveats above), Propecia can slow the rate of hair loss and perhaps even increase hair density somewhat (about 100 hairs per square inch over baseline after 12 months, which diminishes to 50 hairs over baseline after year 5). Can it re-grow hair where there is none? The FDA-labeling cannot tell us, since those with “complete” hair loss were not included in the studies. Additional information is available in the FDA’s statistical review.

Really not going to find a supportive environment on this forum for use of these drugs. Using something that effectively can chemically neuter a guy isn't going to be supported.

What is your current protocol that you believe lead to your bald patch being filled? I don't have a bald patch yet, but I see the direction it is headed. Thanks.

Now I'm doing 20mg EOD .250 anastrozole EOD and before when I noticed balding 50mg twice weekly. Larger testosterone peaks means more DHT, from what I'm told.
