Testosterone levels by age

Mike, I'm going to merge this thread with your 'main' thread, that I already merged with another thread with last week. Since these lab results are specific to your program, let's keep the conversation on that thread. Going to have to strap you up in Gene's bondage suit at this rate!

Updated blood testing. 42 year old male. 6' 3" 205 lbs. My blood tests were drawn at 16:00, due to doctor appt. and having in house lab, so I believe there may be some lowering of levels due to that. I've read several articles from different doctors stating that men over 40 aren't as affected by the testosterone drop off as younger males. In essence, testing in the morning isn't as important for older guys as the young bucks.

TT 259 (175 - 781 ng/dl)
FT 49 (47 - 244 pg/mL)
SHBG 33 (13 - 90 nmol/L)
Albumin 4.5 (3.5 - 4.6 g/dL)
Estradiol 32 (0 - 52 pg/mL)
Prolactin 9.6 (Males 2.5 - 17.4 ng/mL)
LH 2.3 (Males 1.2 - 10.6 mIU/mL)
FSH 1.3 (Males 0.7 - 10.8 mIU/mL)
DHEA-SO4 134 (95 - 530 ug/dL)
T4 Free 0.92 (0.76 - 1.46 ng/dL)
TSH 1.060 (0.360 - 4.170 mIU/L)
Vit. D25 43 (31 - 100 ng/mL)
Hemoglobin 14.7 (13.5 - 18.0 g/dL)
Hematocrit 46 (41.0 - 53.0 %)

Around 500 is pretty average.
For who? For a 65 year old guy it's not bad. Also, TT is not relevant when FT is low. If all testosterone is bound to SHBG, etc. then it's not free to give one the positive benefits.

Also, my last blood test showed TT at 259 ng/dl.

You are in the VA system, right? And you now have a documented drop in total testosterone since your last blood was drawn for testing. What options do you feel that gives you in pursuing a TRT protocol? Many of our members report ongoing struggles with VA medicine when it comes to androgen therapy.

The drop in levels was tested through my private doc, at 4pm, which may have skewed the results. However, this morning I went in at 07:00 and had the VA pull blood as well. I should be getting results tomorrow and posting them along with what my primary at the VA says. My primary is a female NP and I'm not sure where she stands on the whole TRT thing but I'll find out tomorrow, one way or another.

My private doc has already given the green light for TRT if I want to go that route. So, worse comes to worse, I'll be getting my prescriptions through him and insurance. He's a family doctor and I'll need to educate him on AI's and HCG if they're necessary. He's very open minded.

My primary is a female NP who blew me off and told me I was fine. Had pulled blood yesterday at the VA at 07:00. FT, TT and Albumin are the only related tests. Still way down from the 523 I had 9 months ago.

TT 427 ng/dl (241 - 827)
FT 7.5 ng/dL (4.81 - 16.9)

Albumin 4.7 (3.4 - 4.5)

Going with private healthcare?

Going with private healthcare?
I have to. One work around I've read is to start private and transition to the VA for vets. Continuation of care and if you do stop taking test you'll definitely be in a world of hurt and it's the VA's job to treat disabled vets.

My levels are obviously dropping and I might as well hop on the train now and alleviate the symptoms I've been experiencing. No sense waiting any longer.

I have no idea how to compare that FT to the private one... searching now.

ETA - It's 75 using the same measurement.
