Testosterone and Insomnia

Hey guys, my father has been on testosterone (compounded cream) 75 mg per day for 8 months and his doctor recently increased his dosage to 125 mg per day, and as a result he's been experiencing severe insomnia for the past week. Should he reduce the dosage or is this just an adjustment period where his body needs to get used to the new testosterone levels?

In older men, testosterone can be stimulatory. It can also increase sleep apnea. He should probably apply it in the morning and minimize his caffeine consumption after 3 pm and napping during the day.

I wonder if it is in part as basic as "because that is how we function naturally" - Testosterone levels decrease throughout the day and night and peak in the morning. When we administer at night, it is not consistent with normal function and confuses other systems??? Just a thought

I've had sleep maintenance insomnia since starting TRT 8 months ago. My free T is supraphysiologic though my total T is not (low SHBG). Not sure how common this is, but defintely an issue with me. I fall asleep easily with short latency, but wake up a couple hours later. I may or may not quickly fall back asleep, but if I do its another hour or 2 and I wake up again. Nandrolone made it worse. I'm in process of reducing dose of both TC and ND and we will see how it goes.

Free T goes up with nandrolone use with TRT. Have you tried melatonin chewables (5 mg)? Also, how many steps and how much caffeine per day. Nandrolone made me very hot and higher body temp can affect sleep.

For guys who get insomnia after starting testosterone, have you noticed whether morning application actually makes a big difference compared with applying it later in the day?
