Began taking nature-throid yesterday, 97.5mg. So far I feel extremely tired and almost drugged-like. It's not a terrible feeling, kind of relaxed and chill, but hard to get any work done. I read online this is a normal feeling when first starting. Anyone else experience it? I'm thinking my starting dose may have been too high.

My FT3 was 3.0 last test (TSH ~ 1.0, normal T4). After hearing other stories on here I think I need to check out Reverse T3 as well on my next BW.

Also, my current TRT protocol is cyp 70mg and hcg 500iu, both E3.5D.

I can't think of a hormonal protocol, any hormonal protocol, that can be judged on the basis of subjective response during the first days of treatment. Be patient...the two hardest words for all of us to accept on this journey.

Oh I hear you on that. I just wanted to hear others' experiences with starting it to see if they experienced the same.

It will take a week or so to know what direction it is going for you. Your dose is at 1.5 grains, which isn't really excessive or anything. If possible, only titrate up 1/2 grain increments (if needed) per week until you hit your desired range. 1.5 grains is actually fine with me, but some guys and ladies need 3 or more.

And yes, Reverse T3 is essential, as is knowing your TPO & TgAb antibodies going into it. I would suggest running another FT3, FT4, and RT3 panel in approx. 4 weeks, let's look at the ratios and see how you're feeling? Is your iron & ferritin at a good level? Cortisol is essential as well. If it turns out you're pooling, these would be the two (2) primary areas to look at ...

Thanks for the response, I should have mentioned that TPO and TgAb came back negative (no antibodies) so autoimmune is out....I will make sure to get all these things tested in a few weeks...iron/ferritin has been good in the past...is the multi test saliva test the only reliable test for cortisol? I have seen so many conflicting things on cortisol and adrenal fatigue so I don't really know what to think about that subject...

If your iron and ferritin are below 100, take a closer look? Yes, 4x cortisol saliva is the gold standard. Best when ordered combo with DHEA correlation. Adequate cortisol is needed to work with ensuring T3 is working at the cells. It's the same with iron and ferritin. If there's notable imbalances, FT3 will tend to pool, thus a shift and demand on T4 to to convert higher rates of Reverse T3.

Glad you did both antibodies, and all is okay on that front.

I stopped taking it the day after posting this. I woke up that night with really bad heart palpitations. I am going to retest everything including the Reverse T3, Iron/Ferritin, and try to get the 4x cortisol/dhea saliva test (do you think my primary will have that test or do I need to see a specialist?). And then after retesting, I am going to start at maybe a half grain instead of the 1.5 grain. From what I read online the typical starting dose is .5 grain.

Your primary care provider shouldn't have any difficulty ordering the four tube cortisol test. It's also available at Discountedlabs.com if you choose to self-test.
