I'm asian, generally don't grow much facial hair, but I do grow enough stubs to need daily shaving. My first week on TRT, saw my mustache and beard grew super fast! But over time it slowed down immensely. Just three weeks ago I began to notice that my mustache and beard are growing awfully slow. Now I find myself shaving every 3-4 days. I also notice a stronger receding hairline . What could possibly be causing this issue?

Have you checked your DHT level? To treat treat baldness: Rogaine and Nizoral shampoo.

How's your testosterone panel. You only been on testosterone for two months? I wonder what level your testosterone is at.

Of course! I took 3 blood tests since June. Here are the results I have:

Results pre-TRT, June 2015
Total T: 248
Free T: 23
E2: N/A (doc didnt test for this)
SHGB: 33
PSA: 1.7
HCT: 56%
HGB: 18.1

1 month into TRT... Blood test results, July 2015:
Total T: 735
Free T: 59
E2: 44
SHGB: 43
PSA: N/A (doc didnt test for this)
HCT: 49%
HGB: 17.1

2 months into TRT... Blood test results August 2015:
Total T: 897
Free T: 70
E2: 59
SHGB: 44
PSA: N/A (doc didnt test for this)
HCT: N/A (doc didnt test for this)
HGB: N/A (doc didnt test for this)

Do you think it's the rising E2 that's causing delayed hair growth? Someone else mentioned my DHT levels may be the reason too, but I never tested for DHT levels.

Hair growth can be different for everyone, here's a good post https://www.excelmale.com/forum/showthread.php?2707-body-hair-growth
E2 Estradiol is produced by the body using testosterone. Estradiol is involved in bone health, cognitive function, sex drive, and body composition. Depending on lifestyle factors, liver Issues, medications, body fat mass, and genetics, some people may have higher estradiol conversions from testosterone.
The commonly used estradiol test may overestimate estradiol. That test uses immunoassay technology that cannot differentiate C-Reactive Protein (involved in inflammation) from estradiol, so it reads the combination of the two as estradiol. This ultra-sensitive estradiol test is based on liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS), an assay technology that does not have that limitation.http://www.discountedlabs.com/estradiol-sensitive-lc-ms-ms/

Thanks for input, Vince! Just got back from the doctor and saw blood draw results from a September 4, 2015. My E2 climbed up to 88! Doc says this is the reason for my slow hair growth, and recently a mild tingling in my nipples (very mild, but still the worst throbbing since starting TRT). She put me on anastrozole immediately, 1mg every 3-4 days (2mg/week).

I'm VERY glad for your help CoastWatcher, Vince, and Nelson!

That is an awfully high dose of Anastrozole. I fear you will be tanking your Estradiol levels and feeling miserable within a very short time. Most guys don't need anywhere near 2mg a week. Remind me, how often are you injecting testosterone at the present time? And how much per injection?

Oh no, I wish I saw your reply sooner. I literally just washed down a 1mg tablet anastrozole with my dinner only a couple hours ago. I am currently injecting once a week and my dose is 160mg test cypionate per injection. How much anastrozole do you recommend I take per week?

I'd start by splitting your 160mg of testosterone into two injections of 80mg each, 3.5 days apart (Tuesday morning/Friday night, Wednesday morning/Saturday night...that sort of schedule). It's been shown that with smaller, more frequent doses, the need for AI can be either eliminated or significantly diminished. I had somewhat high E2 when I was injecting 120mg weekly; I split it into two doses of 50mg each and dropped the estradiol level by over 15 points with no AI. Smaller, more frequent doses tend to minimize the peaks that can result when a large, single dose is injected. All that said, I'd be wary of taking more than .5mg twice a week, as it is remarkably potent. I'd not take any additional AI this week. Good luck.

Thanks very much. Will consider the 1/2 weekly dose E3.5D. As for the arimidex, I reduced it to 0.5mg E3.5D. Definitely hearing too often 2x1mg per week is far too much!
