Shoulder Injections - Delt or Tricep?

I'm 3 months into TRT. After 1 month of injections I started having had red, sore, itchy bumps every time and every place I inject. I've yet to try the shoulder. I've seen Nelson's picture of injecting into the delt and I've seen videos showing injections into the back of the arm in the tricep area. Does it matter?

I use 29ga - 5/8 syringes and 27 ga - 1/2 syringes. Would one be better than the other in the shoulder area?

I hope I don't get the same bad reaction if I pin the shoulder as I go to the gym 4 days a week. I'm using T with cottonseed oil and I want to try grape seed or sesame. I am in the process of getting on with Defy Medical. Maybe they have some insight on the bumps.

Thanks!

I have never tried injecting in my triceps. To be honest, I do not see the need to change my injection site since my delts have been a great place to inject.

Any place is fine to inject as long as you can easily reach and is comfortable to you. It sounds like you might be allergic to the carrier oil in your Test, some guys need to switch oils for this reason.

Hoosier,

Unless you're a contorsionist, I would think pinning into your delts is a whole lot easier than your triceps. I pin Tri-Amino into my delts EOD, and it's comfortable with a 1/2" 30ga needle. I don't really have any fat there, so the injection is probably going shallow IM. YMMV.

With regard to your bumps...try switching to grapeseed oil, and pin into your quads. When you inject, push the plunger very slowly. It usually takes me about a minute to inject my test, because I push very slowly and use a 1/2" 29 ga insulin pin. Good luck.

Thank you, everyone. This is a new journey for me. The bumps have been discouraging. If I have the same reaction in the delts, I will ask for a different carrier oil in my 2nd vial. I hope to get on with defy and Dr. Saya. I'm sure he has some insight on it.

Several possible explanations...sensitivity to carrier oil as stated, some variation in batch pH (acidity), variation in benzyl alcohol concentration, contamination.

Try rubbing/massaging the area immediately after injection to help disperse the oil (instead of forming a pocket of oil) - that may help a bit in the absence of one of the above issues.

Thank you, Dr. Saya. I hope to talk with you soon. I contacted Defy last week to get started. My emails should arrive when your server comes back up. I did rub the area more this time. I had read in other places NOT to rub it. I will take YOUR advice. Thank you.

Not rubbing is a myth that applies only to STRICTLY IM injections (i.e. Injections that must ONLY be IM and cannot be subQ). The concern is that by massaging/applying pressure, the oil will be dispersed more widely and some may go into the subcutaneous layer...this is not a problem with T cyp because, as we know, T cyp can in fact be injected directly subQ (so the concern is moot). Further, the increased dispersion can often help minimize the local irritation (pain). Give it a try, but it may simply be an issue with the product itself.

Thanks for clearing that up. I injected in the hip again and I did rub after injecting. I do have a bump that is sore but so far it is not as large as previous injection sites. There was a pea-sized knot on the skin surface where I injected but it has gone away. I wipe everything with an alcohol swipe, so I don't think its contamination. When I get set-up with you maybe I should try T with a different oil carrier?

Thank you

I have not tried delts yet. For some reason it freaks me out. I hate injections to begin with and have stuck with quads and glutes. Mostly quads as I can see the area so easily.
