For those of you taking high-dose Niacin (or extended-release Niaspan), have you experienced acid reflux as a side effect? I was recently diagnosed with "reflux laryngitis" after complaining of throat swelling and hoarseness throughout the day, and when the ENT scoped my throat she saw a ton of acid-related inflammation. Strange because heartburn has not been an issue nor any indigestion which are typically associated with reflux issues.
I've never had this problem before and there's been no change to my diet or stress levels recently. The only thing I can think of is that I've recently titrated from 500mg up to 1,500mg daily of extended-release Niacin (under a doctor's care) to try and bring down LDL and nudge up HDL.
I'm trying to target what may be causing this because I feel like the sudden onset and lack of symptoms in the past makes me think this is a side effect rather than its own problem.
