Question for a Doctor....

The below is a reply I posted in another thread. The poster was looking for a TRT doctor who accepts insurance. I thought perhaps a Physician would possibly give an honest response here:

I am starting to believe what you are looking for doesn't exist. I too would like to think I can pay for health insurance and don't have to again, pay full price for health treatment and medications. Unfortunately, I don't think any competent doctor will treat and prescribe a healthy hormone treatment and anti aging protocol and accept insurance. It seams the Government has colluded with Big pharma to screw the public. I wish the Doctors would just tell the truth. I am guessing they can't make a living doing the right thing for their patients and take insurance. Are there any doctors out there that can answer this question?

In the USA. I have been on TRT for the past 3-4 yrs. Have had 3 different doctors manage it and all 3 have taken insurance to cover all. It does take a little finagling to get the insurance company to cover it and a doctor willing to work with you to get it through. You have to be persistent sometimes with your doctors employees or else they’ll quit trying. My last doctor had a tough time or should I say his employees. They kept telling me it was impossible but I expressed that insurance has always covered me. So I called my insurance provider and put the doctors office on a three way call, my insurance provider told us they required my original lab work that indicated I had low Testosterone. So I emailed them to my doctor and they in turn faxed it to my insurance. No Prob!

What state are you in. Are you seeing the doctors in person? Would you be willing to provide their names?

Absolutely I’m Texas. Started with my GP Dr. David Dunn. Then my urologist Dr. David Rittenhouse and now hormone specialist Dr. Kevin Epple. Yes see them personally and telemed. Not sure but t may just depend on your insurance provider and type of plan you have. I use United Healthcare

There lies the problem, you want anti-aging and an optimal state of health from a doctor trained in disease management in a "sick care" system.

My urologist, a long time specialist in TRT/BHRT, takes insurance. Before he relocated from Maryland to Florida, I consulted two highly reputable doctors. Both took insurance.

Different for me, as I've been on a Medicare Advantage PPO plan with nationwide coverage since moving to Florida. My wife(retired) has Federal BC/BS PPO.

I can understand that regular health insurance can be like going to a casino, where the house has the advantage. The health insurers will screw with you 12 ways and Sunday, whether it's opportunistic or standard operating procedure. We also have dental insurance, $160 per month and all they give you, yearly, is a $1500 limit. After that, you're on your own. I had to have all my teeth extracted and get dentures, after years of dental problems. I didn't have a high enough limit on my credit card, so my wife paid for it. $15K, which includes a snap-in lower denture later this year. The extractions were complex, which cost more. $3500. The insurance was worthless.

Yes they exist. But you do have to look. Have you tried calling a local compounding pharmacy and use reverse lookup? Was much easier back when hCG was readily accessible through compounding pharmacies. Also call the big compounders and ask for names of local providers in your area that the pharmacy may work with. Or look for local clinics in your area claiming "men's health". It takes work but like anything chance favors the prepared.

Really just hiding in plain sight.

However, be careful what you wish for when it comes to anti-aging. Make sure it doesn't become accelerated aging.
