Been on TRT for over two years. All was well until I hit the 4 month mark. I begun experiencing SEVERE muscle cramping seemingly out of nowhere. I ended up getting bloods and came to find my potassium was very low. Did some research and found out low potassium levels are rarely due to dietary causes and more often indicate problems with aldosterone. My potassium intake at this time was relatively normal however I decided to switch things up and increase my intake.
I begun following a very high potassium diet of many lentils and bananas (of which I still follow to this day) to no avail. Long story short my potassium has been chronically low for over a year and a half and I cannot take it anymore. The muscle spasms, high blood pressure, and heart arrhythmias have grown so out of control I begin to fear for my health. Ive attempted to take magnesium multiple times in the past and this surprisingly made everything 100x worse. I became so short on breath one time I was contemplating calling an ambulance. Ive also taken potassium chloride powder of which didn't seem to do much, plus Id much rather address the source than shove potassium down my throat.
I understand this warrants further blood testing just to be sure but I'm fairly certain this must be related to aldosterone, as TRT effects the whole cascade of hormones within the HPTA axis. I came across a study showing elevated aldosterone in AAS users however I cannot post the link due to my post count.
I feel perhaps the solution would be to implement HCG into my regime and see if the problems subside? Maybe this would balance things out? If my aldosterone is high, I most likely have other things out of whack as pregnenolone is a precursor to many hormones. Thoughts?
