Overfill on 200mg/1ml vials?

Do pharmaceutical companies normally overfill their test cyp vials?

I injected on Wednesday and pulled .5 ml (100mg) out of the vial. Today, when I went to inject again, I was able to pull 0.6-0.7 (120-140mg) out of the vial until it was empty. I use 1ml syringes, so I know that the 0.5 is 100mg.

I have noticed this on previous injections, but simply thought I was either crazy or bad at counting. However, this is happening too regularly to be a coincidence.

Any insights?

From my experience with one or two of the compounding pharmacy's from a person in the know a few peeps tried to question the fill by volume, etc.., and that person asserted that there's always a tiny overfill. If memory serves people tried to say the volume was less.

Big paharma always slightly overfills the vial due to loss of the medication when drawing with a standard syringe as there will always be some loss due to the dead space.

It is a given that there is going to be some loss of the medication every time you draw from the vial.

Drawing the viscous oily solution was commonly done using standard Luer-Lok syringes which would result in more waste due to higher dead space vs an LDS insulin syringe (permanently attached needle).

Even then Insulin syringes were meant for drawing/injecting water based medications not viscous oily solutions!

Big Pharma never expected men on TRT to be using an LDS insulin syringe to draw/inject the viscous oily solution.

Yes there are LDS standard Luer-Loks on the market now but even then LDS insulin syringes permanently attached needle have virtually no dead space.

So when you master your draw technique you will end up with some extra T from every vial.

This is a given.

I have always used the 10 mL multi-dose vials as that is the only size available in Canada.

I always end up getting more then the extra overfill as I am meticulous and can suck the vial almost try LOL!

I appreciate the response.

Walgreens has gone through several manufacturers/pharma companies when I get my TRT, and I have consistently noticed this overflow phenomenon. Thank you for clearing that up, as now I know I am not crazy or drawing the syringe incorrectly! :D
