Hi,

I am a low SHBG guy who has managed to increased it to around 14-15 while on TRT. It has been years trying to fine tune my protocol and after several lab tests and anaztrozole dosing, I have confirmed I feel best when my E2 is around 10ish. At that level my libido is very good, no bloating, no gyno, dark circles on eyes go away for the most part, energy is great, etc. However, I have 2 problems/concerns:

1. Having E2 too low I read it can cause a lot of issues with bones, etc. And also it is hard for me to keep losing weight.
2. I feel like after a while, low E2 drags down SHBG, which makes me having to low even more E2, which in turn lowers SHBG, getting into this vicious cycle until I crash E2 and feel like shit. So I feel like this is no sustainable for more than a few weeks...

I have tried to keep E2 a bit higher, but libido and energy go away, and other symptoms come. So any advice please?

If you increase E2 and you're losing libido and energy, that to me is unhealthy. You body sounds like it does just fine with lower E2 and chalk it up biochemical individuality.

Your SHBG is low which means your free estrogen is high, this is why you can get away with a lower E2 score. I have low SHBG and can also get away with a lower E2, my SHBG is 15 the last time I checked.

Recently I stopped TRT and have been doing fine with a TT of 97-119 ng/dL and while I haven't tested estrogen, a TT of 417 ng/dL usually will see my E2 around 30, so I can imagine my E2 is very low and while my joints aren't 100%, I'm doing just fine.

Hi systemlord, I have seen you been posting about low SHBG. Have you found a level of SHBG and E2 in which you feel fine too? - I feel the lower the SHBG, the shorter the time you can keep a proper balance before E2 gets too high or too low again.

I haven't really notice a difference between an SHBG of 14-->22, the problem I have is if I don't inject at least EOD, I feel swings between injections. When I inject daily there are no swings even during the first few weeks after a dosage change, it just gets better and better as time moves forward.

I was like you in the beginning, always worrying about low SHBG, now I don't give it a second thought because I have had low SHBG my entire life and never had any problems earlier in life so I don't see the point in worrying about it now.

I was a pretty skinny guy before having low testosterone, 160 pounds (6ft) at the most and only got overweight after spending time with low testosterone.

I was between E non sensitive 15pg - 20 pg all my life, however when I was on hcg monotherapy I reached 22pg I understand that libido involved a lot more than only t and e but I felt amazing with 22pg, and I don't think 15 to 20 pg is a risk otherwise I would be dead by now :).

but I think 20-30 pg could be a better range though

Low is relative to the guy, not a number. I too like my E2 to mirror my SHBG value. Testing over the day I can see my Free E, DOUBLE to over the lab range so a number in a trough is only a small piece. Consider that maybe E needs to be managed as a PEAK value and not a trough.

Lot's of negatives resolved for me through my E2 mirroring my SHBG. Consider adding a test if it's affordable for you, Estradiol, Free"...this could be an eye opener for you alongside the Sensitive LC/MS/MS.

As Systemlord states we know SHBG binds to E just like it does to T so you can be assured of having a higher value of Free E just like you do Free T.

Whatever you increased from it's still low and any change can be just because you took a dump that morning, point being it doesn't mean anything in the end and as I stated above it didn't change anything for you.

So, low shbg means more free unbound estrogen. Estradiol Sensitive is both free and total estrogen. So, your total might be lower but your free unbound would be higher

Isnt very low E only dangerous when its actual LOW FREE E?

I mean, with low shbg, ur total E can be kinda low, but your free E is still perfectly normal and good, no?

Its like only using Total Test for your treatment and ignoring Free T all together. We know SHBG binds E similar to T so you can relatively have a fair guess that when your Free T is very high likewise your Free Estrogen is high/very high in the same way.

I like that analogy very straight forward , simple , yet effective
