Not responding well to compounded HCG?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been taking 1500IU of HCG EOD as a monotherapy for the past 6 weeks. But my total testosterone has only risen from 281 ng/dl to 345 ng/dl. The problem isn’t my testicles since my baseline LH was 1.8.

I’ve been using compounded HCG my doctor wants me to stay at the same dose and switch over to Pregnyl, retest in 6 weeks.

He says compounded HCG is well known for having potency issuess. Is this true? Pregnyl is expensive. Does anybody know where I can find it for less than $250 per 10,000IU?

thanks guys!

Yes I have read from several guys here that said pregnyl worked while the compounding hCG did little to nothing.

Also, you are taking a wicked high dose of hCG at 5250iu a week. Of course that will be expensive. At that high of a level as you’re taking, I wouldn’t be surprised if your E2 is getting up there. High E2 always negates any TRT benefits for me.

After some research I found a possible reason for negative pregnancy tests with HCG preparations

A very rare cause of false negative results occurs when very, very, high concentrations of hCG are present. This is called the high-dose hook effect. The hCG assays works by forming a so-called "sandwich" with two different antibodies as the "bread" and the hCG molecule as the "meat." The hook effect occurs when the hCG concentration is so high that it saturates both antibodies and there are so many molecules that the antibodies don't actually form a sandwich. This is rare because women don't normally produce enough hCG to saturate both antibodies. The hook effect should be of concern in a hospital setting, but most women should not be concerned about a hook effect with their urine. A hook effect can be confirmed if testing shows a positive result after sample dilution.

Keep in mind the highest levels we see during pregnancy are 300 ie/ml

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Dihydrotestosterone is a potent androgen derived from testosterone. Affects hair growth, prostate health, and masculinization effects.

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
