Very interesting. I have not heard of this peptide but am familiar with nootropic medications (smart drugs). Noopept appears to be a Piracetam analogue, or at least similar in effect as Piracetam. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piracetam. Piracetam has been used for anti-aging in the US for some time, and has some preventative effects on cognitive decline (and of chronic cognitive disease) along with possible improving symptoms of depression & anxiety.

The two main peptide ingredients in Noopept appear to be related to Phenylalanine and Glycine which are two very potent AA which positively effect brain chemistry. We prescribed DL Phenylalanine to help with depression, anxiety, and chronic pain. It helps to increase endorphins (naturally). Glycine has some beneficial effects on the brain. Here are two links describing these individual nutrients

Don't be surprised when your dreams become more vivid and expressive, and you might find an increased ability to recall your dreams in detail. You might find pregnenolone to be a good compliment with helping Noopept be more effective. Like always, consult your physician before medicating.

Update:

So, i'm taking 20mg of Noopept sublingually twice daily. I'm also stacking this with Onit Labs' Alpha Brain at 1 cap twice daily. Like my first time smoking bud, I'm waiting for something to happen. So far, I just feel a flushing sensation, similar to taking niacin. Since I'm stacking the two, I can't say whether it's the noopept or the Alpha Brain.

I also felt a light pressure in my temples and my forehead which turned into a headache yesterday. I found this guy on youtube who gives a comprehensive review of Noopept. He references the studies that were conducted as well as a few anecdotal experiences.

I'll post it here when I'm out of the office.

Quick update. I don't feel any smarter with this peptide. However, I feel more confident in speaking. I'm able to think deeper while I'm speaking as well. I also listen more thoroughly.

So, it's been awhile since I've updated. And, I've made some significant changes to my protocol.

In a nutshell, I'm looking to optimize my productivity. So, here's my new regimen.

150mg Nuvigil 1x M-Friday
20mg Noopept 2x Daily
1 cap of Alpha Brain 2x Daily
1000mg of Fish Oil 1x Daily
Coffee and Nicotine (E-cig) throughout the day.

FYI, I quit coffee 2 years ago and cigarettes (1 1/2 packs a day) 10 years ago. I've encountered some info on the benefits of both in regards to cognitive function and creativity.

I would not pick up a nicotine habit based on those cognitive studies! The negatives of nicotine on health is also well documented. Coffee on the other hand should be okay in moderation
Where were you able to obtain the Noopept?

The negatives of nicotine on health is also well documented.

Thanks for your input. I am definitely being cavalier (maybe a little misinformed and/or naive too) about taking nicotine especially when all I have to base my decision on is the little studies that are available and the anecdotal results of others. I also recognize how crazy I am for picking up nicotine again because I had a horrible withdrawal when I quit cigarettes 11 years ago.

That said, In the case of nicotine, (anecdotally of course...) I feel that with coffee, I am able to sit and focus a bit longer. I'm willing to push the boundaries a bit to overcome fatigue, brain fog, and just be more productive. Those "boundaries" are narrower than you might assume...at least by my standards. You won't see me using crack to get motivated in the morning, and a diprivan drip to settle down in the evening. I actually draw the line many steps before those two extremes.

I won't get on the soapbox for too long...I became really frustrated working with doctors and not getting the results I was looking for. So, now I'm taking some aspects of my wellness into my own hands.

I wanted to chime in on the brain fog I'm experiencing today.

I ran out of Noopept and have been off of it for about two weeks. Personally, I've come to the conclusion that the negative effects of not being on Noopept are greater than the positive effects of being on it. In other words, on Noopept I focus better, I speak more eloquently, and no brain fog. Off of it, slightly less focus, speaking is a little off, but the brain fog...(and, I'm literally struggling to find a word here)...sucks.
