new doctors means a different mindset

After a long association with a doctor in Western New York, he retired and I was handed over to a nurse-practitioner. She, after a few minutes of my describing to her who I was, shook her head, took me off the prescribed anabolic steroid I had been taking for some time. When I asked her why, she responded with "you're just fighting old age". The conversation went downhill from there. She made no effort to learn who I was and what efforts on my part had brought me to her room, that day. I was just an old man whom she needed to be rid of. I have an appointment with my "new" doctor next week, and I'm wondering if I'll be better able to get through to him and how to broach the testosterone hurdle.

WOW! what does she think is going to happen if she discontinues your therapy? does she care you will crash? good luck in your search for a new Doc, I'm a newb to the board as well, so from one newb to another, welcome, there is a lot of info here.

I am amazed at that attitude, yet not at all surprised. So if we are just fighting old age, we better forgo eye glasses, contact lenses, any sort of dentistry, and God forbid hearing aids should the need arise - those are the tools of Satan...those and TRT, of course...

It irks me that another medical professional of ANY rank would make such an ignorant comment. Best of luck and hopefully you will find a suitable provider ASAP as coming off of TRT cold turkey is NOT fun nor healthy.

Eff Her! Great part of the free marketplace is that you get to choose who you get to spend your money on! FYI, that doctor that just posted above me is one of the absolute best in the nation! Keep your options open ...
