Im not sure but can anyone on this site give me some guidance on my wifes harmone problems. She has started memopause and is really feeling bad...Im not sure if her Dr. Is helping her... she is seeing someone but its not helping. Dont know what to do..

She needs to find an Anti Aging Physician who is in the American Academy for Anti Aging Medicine.

These are the Physicians who help men and women find hormonal homeostasis and are well trained.

My Doc is an A4M Physician and while he sees many men he also works with women and especially those who are menopausal.

Chris, post her labs if you have them. Provide her stats, medications and any supplementations she is taking. Like many menopausal women, estrogen becomes dominant when progesterone declines, and you start seeing an impact on the adrenals and thyroid, along with a litany of other issues ranging from iron deficiency to cognitive function. She does indeed need a GOOD physician to help possibly design a BHRT protocol for her, but we can gladly discuss the variables related to her situation in the meantime.

My wife goes back for her new labs arounf 5-1, she is currently taking a nightly pill of 150 mg Progesterone and she uses a nightly cream of 1ml of .05 mg testosterone. Can anyone give me some advice on her meds. Thanks guys..She is still having Hot flashes ans no sex drive, she has not had her menstrual cycle for 12 months now, she is 51 years of age, and in great health.

maybe she can try a bit more testo.. most dr's are really afraid to give women test and yet so many women feel much better with it.. and sometimes the injections are alot more effective! and the "side effects" people mention and are so afraid of aren't an issue with a low dose! I have never met this dr but they have beeing treating women with injectable testo for a long time! here are some testomonails http://www.thehiddendisease.com/blog/patient-videos/

Chris, you had mentioned she's running new labs, right about this time ... I'll keep an eye out for them.

Unfortunately, this could very well be much deeper than those two areas. She needs to take a hard look at her thyroid, adrenals, and iron/ferritin, along with other related labs (DHEA, B12, Potassium, Magnesium, Vitamin D3). This is all quite common in peri/post menopausal women, when progesterone deficiency contributes to estrogen dominant like conditions. Many of the variables like the thyroid and adrenals don't get back on the right track until they are addressed and treated properly.

Lots to talk about when she gets her labs. Hoping she ran the gamut so that we can get a better picture of what's going on.
Thanks

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Dihydrotestosterone is a potent androgen derived from testosterone. Affects hair growth, prostate health, and masculinization effects.

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
