Measuring insulin syringe

5. line would be 30 mg right?
It’s a 0,5 ml insulin syringe 40 Iu.

What’s confusing me it says 40 iu but then on the syringe it says 20 IU?!?

So with my math 30 mg on these syringes would be 30 mg.

This is incomprehensible.

What substance are you injecting/measuring?

What is the concentration of the substance, for example HCG iu/ ml, or Testosterone mg/ml?

What is the dose in mg or iu?

What kind of insulin syringe are you referring to? Can post a pic?

Oh sorry forgot to post picture
Testosterone 250 mg/ml
Syringe: 0,5 ml 40IU.
30 mg would be the 5. mark on the syringe. But I am not sure. Never had these. Was just confuses sind on the syringe it shows 20 ius?!?

Thank you.

You have veterinary U=40 syringes. The standard for human use is U=100.

U=40 and U=100 are insulin concentrations. It seems that the markings on the syringes are different volumes per unit in order to easily draw the correct dose of INSULIN in units based on U=100 vs U=40 concentrations.

for HCG and testosterone, calulations are straightforward with U=100 as 100 units =1ml in volume. That is not true for U=40, so using U=40 complicates this calculation. I don't know how to do this. Hope someone else here does.

I did. the math like that.
Since it’s 40 IUs: 30 mg/250* 40= 4.8 so 5. mark on the syringe. But I am not sure since it’s a 0,5 ml. I am in a village in Europe and the pharmacy only had those ones:-(

The size of the syringe is not pertinent. U-40 is U-40 when it comes to the markings on the syringe. Whether the syringe is .3ml or .5ml or 1ml, if the scale is graduated as U-40, a U-40 unit is still a U-40 unit.

From that web page: "NEVER dose U100 insulin using U40 syringes – you will be dosing your cat 2.5x more insulin than you think and will be putting your cat in danger."

Or to rephrase: U-40 units are 2.5 times more volume than U-100 units.

Please confirm your dose of T in mg... is it 30mg?

If so, to me the logic is to calculate the dose for U=100. then divide that number by 2.5 for correct dose in U-40 units.

So if your T is 250mg/ml, then 30mg is .12ml

With U-100, that is 12 units

Divide by 2.5 is 4.8 u-40 units. So looks like we have reached the same answer using slightly different math method.

So yes, you would draw to just below the 5 unit mark in this pic:

Sorry to hear that you do not have access to the U-100 insulin syringes.

More grief than need be.

No one would use the U-40 especially when injecting testosterone or hCG.

There is a big difference here between the U-100 vs U-40.

Pay attention to the mL/units.

(U-100) 1.0 mL syringe = 100 units
(U-40) 1.0 mL syringe = 40 units

Need to know the strength of testosterone (TC/TE/TP/T-blend) you are injecting?

Most men on TRT are using TC or TE in the 200 mg/mL strength.

If using 200 mg/mL strength:

U-100 insulin syringe

1 ml = 100 units

0.01 mL = 1 unit = 2 mg TC/TE

Same for the 0.5 mL (50 units) or 0.3 mL (30 units) insulin syringes.

U-40 insulin syringe

1 mL = 40 units

0.025 mL = 1 unit = 5 mg TC/TE

Same for the 0.5 mL (20 units) or 0.3 mL (12 units) insulin syringes.

You are using the U-40 0.5 mL (20 unit) insulin syringes.

0.025 mL = 1 unit = 5 mg TC/TE

6 units = 30 mg TC/TE

If using the 250 mg/mL strength:

U-100 insulin syringe

1 ml = 100 units

0.01 mL = 1 unit = 2.5 mg TC/TE/T-blend

Same for the 0.5 mL (50 units) or 0.3 mL (30 units) insulin syringes.

U-40 insulin syringes

1 mL = 40 units

0.025 mL = 1 unit = 6.25 mg TC/TE/T-blend

Same for the 0.5 mL (20 units) or 0.3 mL (12 units) insulin syringes.

You are using the U-40 .5 mL (20 unit) insulin syringes.

0.025 mL = 1 unit = 6.25 mg TC/TE/T-blend

5 units = 31.25 mg TC/TE/T-blend

oh guys thank you all so much. So it seems I was right with the 5. line on the syringe=30 mg.
Yeah looking forward going back home where I have access to to U100s.
Cheers

but is it the 5.line or 5 unit mark where I have to draw? Last time I just draw below the 5. line not where it shows 5 on the syringe

5 unit mark.

Strength of your tesosterone is 250 mg/mL.

U-40 .5 mL syringe is 20 units so the 20 unit mark = 125 mg esterified T

250 mg/mL strength:

You are using the U-40 .5 mL (20 unit) insulin syringes.

0.025 mL = 1 unit = 6.25 mg TC/TE/T-blend

5 units = 31.25 mg TC/TE/T-blend
