Low test causing anxiety?

Hi everyone. I'm new to this site and was hoping I could get your advice. I was on testim gel for about 4 years and my new dr said I could stop it. I only applied one tube a day. I never had any low testosterone symptoms before they put me on the gel but I was very low according to him. I stopped taking the testim around March of last year and felt fine without it. Around June of last year I started feeling different. I would get lightheaded sometimes and just felt off and my primary dr said my total test level was 55. She sent me to a urologist who at the time said you look fine and seem ok so let's wait 6 months and check it again. At the end of October I started having anxiety attacks and my primary put me on zoloft. I took it for five days and I couldn't handle the side effects. She then put me on paxil and I took that for 4 days along with xanax as needed. I was a nervous wreck. I stopped taking them and went and got my testosterone level by a urologist and he checked and it was 275 so he told me to wait a week and we tested again and it went to 279. Now he has put me on 200 mg of test cypionate injections once every two weeks. The anxiety is a little better but was wondering if
anyone else has experienced severe anxiety because of low testosterone levels? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Low T has many symptoms......anxiety definitely being one of them.....first hand I can say yes.

At 279 you need TRT. That said you need to find a new doctor. A 200mg shot every 2 weeks is a old school treatment plan that is bound to cause you issues and very little true relief

Talk to the guys at Defy or similar type doctors who treat with TRT in the modern sense.

Dont waste your time with a poor doc.

Agree with Dave on all the above!! Same story, I've been in those shoes. Low Test can be a real dark place, you're not alone.

200mg/ e2 weeks is a lousy protocol. I'm not going to sugarcoat it, call it what it is, it's lousy!! Optimal on that dosage would be 50mg x 2/wk, worse case 100mg x once per week. Like Dave mentioned, get with Defy or someone that will manage your health properly.

Thanks guys. What needle size do you recommend and where is the place to inject? I currently am injecting into my butt. What do most guys do or prefer?

Here's the thing.....if you get yourself to a new school doc who will treat properly with TRT he will instruct you with proper everything. Defy and/or Dr. John Crisler for example are great people to contact.

I would want some proper investigation and labs by them prior to TRT treatment.

If and/when you do begin TRT it will most likely move to Sub-Q injections (not IM) and will include HCG and most likely some E control and some other supplements too. Injections will be multiple times per week etc.

Step one align yourself with a Doctor who has a real clue on how to treat with TRT ......the treatment plan you are on.....tells me all I need to know.....the doctor is inexperienced and setting you up for failure.

good luck.

Many, probably most, of us here had a hard time finding a doctor who knew what they were doing...don't despair. As SuperDutyDave noted, there are excellent providers available. Finding the right physician is the single biggest step you can take.

All the best.

I live within 2 hrs of Albany and know of nothing. NYC possibly? Tried one in Boston.....wasted almost a year with that guy.

Worth traveling to find right guy. Dr. Crisler changed my life with his advanced skills
