Does low T run in your family? Do you think its a genetic issue?

For me, it is definitely genetics. My Dad, older uncles, cousins, etc. died at early ages mostly of colon cancer and their quality of life in the last 2-3 years was terrible. I was diagnosed in 2014 with high SHBG, low T and low free T. Had my 2 older brothers and my son have their levels checked and all were low so, obviously a genetic trait on the male side of my family.

There are other reasons as well but I would bet major reason is genes.

We can't forget how terrible our diets have become. So many men have big bellies and gynecomastia.

Dad is in his 60s with TT in the 900s. 35 and hypogonadal. I had typical high testosterone in my teens as far as I can tell. Symptoms showed up early 20s. Figured it out at 33. Found a pituitary adenoma, but supposedly it is not the cause. I'm not really convinced.

User Joe... what about the males on your mother's side of the family? Takes 2 to tango and we are a product of both.

My dad died prior to TRT becoming as common as it has over the last decade or so. I suspect he had low T as he had most every symptom. However I strongly agree with Vince above that a lot of our problems (low T or otherwise), stem from a poor diet.

I am sure my dad had low T and clinical depression, but like many men from his generation, he lacked the awareness and his macho attitude blocked him from seeking and accepting help and medications. It is hard to see someone that you know can be helped not wanting to admit that they need help.
