Low ferritin

Hi guys!

I’ve been dealing with a decline in ferritin since last months. In September 25 it was at 130, in March 26 at 69 and this month in 26. Iron is between 50-60 and transferrin always stays around 300. I don’t use to do donation, last time was in March after the bloods and it was the first time since 24. My hematocrit stays fasting in 54-55.

I don’t eat too many foods rich in hemo iron. I think the problem is the erithrocitosis which is increasing the red bloods cells and using the iron to feed them. Maybe increase too much the intake of iron could not be the solution. I’m thinking in reduce my trt dose from 25mg/day ( test cyp) to 18mg/day.

Anyone has experienced ? Thanks

Thank you! Appreciate it.

I’m going to try increasing my hemo iron intake. But I don’t know why it happened, because I’ve been on trt the last 5 years and that’s never happened before. Do u think that decreasing the dose of trt could also help to fix it?

Lowering the TRT dose can increase ferritin levels by reducing red blood cell turnover and the associated depletion of iron stores. Discussions on ExcelMale indicate that this reduction allows for the natural recovery of iron and ferritin while managing hematocrit levels. However, many men (like me) on TRT cannot reach ferritin levels above 50-60. Please read the article I posted above.
