Total, Free T isn't used as the basis for the diagnosis of Low T, only Total is used. That doesn't mean that you can't find a Dr willing to treat you but this is the basis for diagnosing low T.

I would say you have secondary hypogonadism. Low FSH and LH.

Most doctors have no idea about normal status, confused by lab ranges and not healthy ranges. The normal ranges are confusing, most elderly men land someone on the bottom end of the ranges and younger men on the top end of the ranges.

So your testosterone levels are normal, but for an 80 year old man. The endocrine society is clear, men <300 ng/dL are approved for TRT and men 345> ng/dL can be considered for TRT using clinical judgement.

Your doctor is misinformed, I suggest you find a new doctor that specializes in TRT.

What’s a “Normal” Testosterone Level

Your T is rather low, that’s a fact. Do you need TRT? That depends. Are you having any symptoms? Did you test SHBG? How is your sleep? Weight? Exercise? Nutrition? Once you answer those questions, you can figure out if TRT is right for you.

Why are you even asking such?

You have already been on trt previously and have been on excel since 2017!

You were on T only 100 mg/week 50 mg every 3.5 days

Here is a former thread you started on July23/2017:Test Result help

My (not so smart Dr) didnt test me for Free or E2 before hand so I dont have a baseline.
Currently taking .25mL of 200mg/1ML test cyp e3.5d

Here are the results:

Component Your Value Standard Range

TESTOSTERONE, TOTAL 1012.0 ng/dL 249.0 - 836.0 ng/dL

Another thread from August 2/2017:Test Results came 8 weeks after starting TRT , please help

His E2 is really low on TRT. Who knows what it is off TRT.

This thread he started has nothing to do with where his E2 sits off trt as not only does he not mention anything regarding this but to top it off his E2 was not even tested as it is absent from the labs he posted!

Maybe looking for fresh opinions or too frustrated with doctors/symptoms etc. It's definitely good you pointed it out. We're all here to help each other.

Maybe he was on an AI and dose was too high? I'm assuming a doctor ordered those tests for him.

What happend is I’m positing because I have been off trt since January and got fresh labs. Because the first time around the dr didn’t know shit. And I didn’t feel the need to explain the entire story of my past as it doesn’t matter. I did a 7 month reset off it. Not sure why you are trying to shame me and all the people liking the post doesn’t help either. Like said below. We are all supposed to help each other. Yet your post has no value and actually really put me down.

I'd recommend a baseline of testing. Many of us order our tests online and have the lab orders emailed to us, assuming you have access or live in a state that allows it. Defy medical offers testing, guidance, and meds. Basically they know what works.

Most have packages, and we recommend a complete thyroid, and male hormone panel.

If you go back on TRT, it may be best to go without an AI, and slowly introduce. Low e2 may be your problem on TRT. In my opinion, you're more likely to feel better with high e2 than low e2.

Hopefully others offer more info.
