I am 35.

My testosterone level shows 417 dg/nl , doctor said it's within the normal range but I am not convinced at all. From what I see in studies online guys in my age have it 600 in average, how mine can be normal? My brother has it 900 and he has diabetes and older than me!

Sometimes I struggle to keep erection when having sex with my gf.

How can I convince my doctor that I really have it low?

It's certainly "normal," but it's nowhere near optimal. Your doctor is responding to a number, a lab range established by a statistical evaluation of a population. It has nothing to do with how or what you're feeling. As to how you can convince your doctor to treat you...you probably can't. What you need is another doctor. Many of us have encountered ignorant physicians and been frustrated in our initial attempts to have our problems taken seriously.
 
You might have a battle on two fronts. Are you using insurance? Some insurance companies require pre-authorization for TRT and they want to see a low number before they approve it. My insurance wanted to see 2 tests under 300 before they authorized it. I had several under 300 and my doc still didn't want to do it. I got tired of trying to convince a guy that works for me (your doctor does work for you) about my health so I fired him and got another doc. This new doc approved TRT right away.
 
So is TRT is the only medical solution to increase T? What are the alternatives? Note that i exercise 3-4 days a week.
 
Why is your testosterone low? Is it a case of primary or secondary hypogonadism - is the problem in the testicles or the pituitary? To know that, you need more tests. LH and FSH to start. If the answer is primary, testicular in nature, you have no recourse but TRT. If it is secondary, pituitary axis, a Clomid restart protocol may be a possibility. So, more testing, as is outlined here on the Forum, will shed more light on why you are dealing with this.
 
I think your Dr is being honest. Your T is in range on the lab test range. That range includes many people who feel poor and the elder population. Everyone is different. Some people feel fine with T at 400, other's feel poor.

How can you convince your Dr. IMO, your best bet is to keep after him that you don't feel well and it could be low T and that you want more testing and bring in some articles to convince him. Tell him that you want to give it a test run for 1 year to see if it helps and if not, then you will try something else. You may never be successful. Other options are to find another local Dr and the businesses that sell T and perform testing. I don't see your insurance covering it. Good luck.
 
a lot of health man nowadays have 400-750 test levels and those folks are really healthy in good shape.. the times where most men had test levels 900+ ended 2000 years ago if not more lol but just to clarify those men didnt live a long life

The real operative thing we need to see is Free T, SHBG, as well as LH and FSH. The OP might have better luck pointing at his Free T which is probably at or below low range.

My friend, Vince Carter, raises a good point on Free Testosterone. However, will your doctor be sharp enough to dig in and see the connection?

I will tell you my friend I was your age and my PCP told me 368 was awesome. She did everything to keep me off of trt. I decided to finally try TRT and wow what a difference I use 120mg test cyp per week and my levels are at 1058 now with free test at 25.7.

At your age if you feel shitty, find a doctor who will do all your labs, then find a protocol for you. Go easy with the Arimidex that too can make you feel shitty. I feel like a new man on TRT you will too.
 
Where are you getting info on men's test levels 2000 years ago and their short life span?

I'd like to see this too. I read that the WWII generation guys had almost twice what is average today, but I never saw any research on this. I tend to believe it. I have pictures of my Dad and uncles in their uniforms in the 1940s. Lean, hard looking dudes. I think that there is something to this claim.

I agree you do have low testosterone, why.

1- Sleep well. At least 7 -8 hours and keeping proper sleeping hours.

2- Moderate alcohol consumption to no more than 2 drinks a day.

Bolded for emphasis. No one wants to hear that one. It's why I always ask about BMI and if possible, BF%, when I hear of a younger man with lower T levels looking for reasons other than that one.

If the past I did a lot of research on life span.

The problem when people look at life span, most data is just composed of average life span.

The problem with this is most people, especially men, died before the age of 21 due to famine, war and starvation. Many died at childbirth and are counted as part of the average.

Those that managed to live past 45 generally had a longer life that what most people think.

Same for average height of a man, the increase in height is generally thought to be a result of better nutrition starting with the mother and continuing on with the baby through life. It's not really a genetic change as some people think.
