The best way to correct your poor lipid panel is by correcting your poor eating habits.
The same thing happens to me when I ate low fat, that's why I had to switch to a high-fat low-carb diet. It made unbelievable changes in my lipid panelI would add a qualifier to Vince's statement: "FOR SOME PEOPLE, The best way to correct your poor lipid panel is by correcting your poor eating habits."
Almost 20 years before starting TRT I had a near-fatal heart artery blockage. Fortunately, it was repaired by angioplasty before I had a heart attack. The culprit was very low HDL.
Afterwards, I went on a very strict diet with extremely low fats. (My diet previously had not been bad. It was fairly healthy.) My next blood test showed my lipids were the worst I had ever had. My doctor, a specialist in blood lipids, was not surprised. She said, "some people can improve blood lipid levels by diet, but most can't." At that point I started medicines to raise HDL and lower LDL. The medicines worked very well and I have had no problems since.
