Increase Your Strength and Stamina with One Little Trick

A news article in the Independent reported on a recent study:

Whether you’re cycling up a hill and need extra oomph or simply trying to open a tightly-closed jar, a good dose of foul language may be what it takes.

Dr Richard Stephens, from the University of Keele, said: “We know from our earlier research that swearing makes people more able to tolerate pain. A possible reason for this is that it stimulates the body's sympathetic nervous system - that's the system that makes your heart pound when you are in danger. If that is the reason, we would expect swearing to make people stronger too, and that is just what we found in these experiments. Quite why it is that swearing has these effects on strength and pain tolerance remains to be discovered. We have yet to understand the power of swearing fully,” Dr Stephens added.

Oh yeah... There used to be an article about this swearing helping mental health too. I forgot the link but basically it said swearing is like releasing the anger, rather than keeping it. When we release our anger our body start to become normal (it's like releasing bad "stuff" from our body, if you know what I mean XD). It's also quite interesting since I see there are many courses and classes teaching people about "anger management", while in truth, there is no such thing as anger management. This so-called anger management can only keep us "sane" for a time, but eventually these angers will break out and they wreck things pretty badly.
I guess this has the similar effect in this article too.

Personally, I use the Ronnie Coleman method of telling the weights, politely, that they are light. Yeahhh Buddy!
