In this video, Dr. Mark Scholz emphasizes the importance of getting a calcium scan to assess the risk of heart disease. He reveals that many prostate cancer patients face a higher risk of dying from heart-related problems rather than prostate cancer itself. The calcium scan is a simple and quick CT scan that profiles an individual’s plaque level in the coronary arteries. This information helps determine the likelihood of a cardiovascular event in the next 10 years. Dr. Scholz urges men to consider this scan and take preventive measures to reduce the risk of heart attack and improve overall health.

Key Takeaways:

*Dr. Scholz highlights the need for men to focus on not just prostate cancer, but also other health factors such as heart disease.

*The calcium scan is a non-invasive CT scan that measures the plaque level in the coronary arteries, providing valuable information on the risk of a heart attack.

*Heart disease poses a higher risk of mortality compared to prostate cancer, making the calcium scan an essential screening tool for men’s health.

*The American Heart Association supports the use of calcium scans as they have proven to be useful in predicting future cardiovascular events.

*Anyone over the age of 40 should consider getting a calcium scan to assess their cardiovascular health and take necessary preventive measures.

Well, at least they're honest about the scan just being a front to push statins.

From a widow maker survivor I wish I had done this scan prior to my heart attack. I was 55 and in great shape running 9mph on a treadmill when it happened training for an upcoming Murph.
I suggest everyone over 50 get this test. I now have vastly diminished cardiac output.

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Dihydrotestosterone is a potent androgen derived from testosterone. Affects hair growth, prostate health, and masculinization effects.

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
