Help with new numbers

I just got my numbers back from my doctor and they are as follows:

T-953
E-32
SHBG-43.8

I'm not sure why he didn't pull Free T but I'm not sure what to make of the SHBG number I've never seen that before and Estradiol seems high. Any input would be helpful. Also, if soemone could give me a list of what test should also be done let me know he will pull whatever I ask for. Thanks!

These are the labs your Doctor should have run if he was doing a proper work up on you.

From the good Dr. John Crisler:

INITIAL LABWORK

Following a good Medical History, which laboratory assays should be run as part of your initial hypogonadism workup? Following is my list, but certainly other specialists in this area run expanded or attenuated panels, per individual clinical experience and expertise. Of note, additional tests which should be included to complete the true comprehensive Anti-Aging Medicine workup (i.e. inflammatory markers, insulin, good and true comprehensive thyroid study, etc.); this chapter is concerned solely with administering TRT. And as always, the panel is tailored to the individual patient. Here they are:

· Total Testosterone
· Bioavailable Testosterone (AKA “Free and Loosely Bound”)
· Free Testosterone (if Bioavailable T is unavailable)
· SHBG
· DHT (perhaps)
· Estradiol (specify “sensitive” assay for males)
· LH
· FSH
· Prolactin
· Cortisol
· Thyroid Panel ---> TSH, FT4, FT3, RT3, Antibodies
· CBC
· Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
· Lipid Profile
· PSA (age dependent)
· IGF-1, IGFBP-3 (if HGH therapy is being considered)

FOLLOW-UP LABS

Four weeks after initiating or changing dose for transdermal, six weeks for IM injection TRT. The time delay provides for stabilization via HPTA suppression and pharmacokinetics of medication:

· Total Testosterone
· Bioavailable Testosterone
· Free Testosterone (if Bioavailable T is still unavailable)
· Estradiol (specify “sensitive” assay for males)
· LH
· FSH
· CBC
· Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
· Lipid Profile
· PSA (for those over 40 with Family Hx of prostate CA, >45 yo. all others)
· IGF-1, IGFBP-3 (if GH Therapy has been initiated already)

This what I was looking for Gene. Can you comment on my shbg? This is the first time I've had this pulled. Thanks for the direction.

Cool. I just sent you a form to give me a good idea of your situation and goals. I included a suggested list of labs. I am looking forward to it!

Would you be able to help me figure out why I would have no libido with the following numbers? Dihydrotesterone 135
Dhea 277 SHBG 73 total test 1560 free test 203.2 and estradiol 30 I have had zero libido for close to 20 years now and in spite of raising my test to these levels it ruins my life. I get no pleasure from even looking at girls any more and that was my favorite thing to do.

If you start this as a new thread, and add the reference ranges for your labs, and provide details on your protocol and history with TRT, people will speak up.

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Dihydrotestosterone is a potent androgen derived from testosterone. Affects hair growth, prostate health, and masculinization effects.

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
