Help on talking doc into testing for Estradiol

Buy Lab Tests Online
Hi
I have an appointment coming up with labs due and I have asked my doc to test for Estradiol. This is what I got back as an answer.
"We typically do not check Estradiol levels when on testosterone unless you have signs of breast tissue formation. We can talk more about this at your appt."

I would think its a bit late if you have signs of breast tissue. I would think he would know to be testing for it, he is an Endocrinologists at a top hospitals here in Ca.

How do I talk him into doing the test and making changes if needed. If I cant then I guess I will have to find a new doc.

Defy Medical TRT clinic doctor
Thanks for the info. I see how it goes after he reads this. A Loma Linda doc you think would know more..

It makes no difference where they work most Doc's are just not trained correctly.

Most of us here on this forum know more than most Doc's when it comes to TRT for men.

I think what has happened in this field is that testosterone was demonized in medical school and we now have 4 pharmaceutical companies pushing info to doctors who had no training. And the current guidelines do not cover any specific info about anastrozole and HCG since we have little data on both used with TRT.

I do not think it is a correct statement to say that we know more than doctors. What has happened is that patient anecdotal information is spreading fast on the internet. But unless researchers spend more efforts in trying to get non-pharmaceutical sponsored testosterone studies, this will change little. Abbott, Auxilium, and others in the testosterone field do not want to discuss "off-label" info to doctors about side effect management since the pharma industry started self regulation on marketing messages after a few companies got penalized for abusing the system.

I would caution all on my forum to think twice when making statements that give the impression that we are medical experts and that we are providing medical advice. We are just peer educators who want to empower men with information to be able to use it in discussions with healthcare providers. I promise to keep check on statements that are made without scientific references to ensure that certain information is based on personal experience and not on studies or guidelines.

Beyond Testosterone Book by Nelson Vergel
Thanks Nelson
I agree that as things change docs cannot always keep up. An example is that I have gout and my primary doc (who is not anymore) prescribe me to go onto Uloric without knowing all of the implications. Uloric drops your uric acid so quickly that I had a gout attack that lasted for 4 weeks where I was bed ridden and not able to walk. After I did research on the internet I found that you should not go on Uloric right after an attack, which is what he did. Lesson learned there. So I do a lot of research on my own. I am a firm believer that you have to be informed and ask questions.

I have researched other sites and forums on TRT and all say that you need to have E2 checked. My doc is very open minded so I might be able to get him to run the test and take action if needed. I requested the 2 twice a week for my T shots after the 2 day crash before my next shot and he agreed to it. If it wasnt for me looking into issues I was having I would have never tested my T levels to start with. One doc said I had adult ADD and wanted to put me on meds and now with being on T my ability to focus has really improved. ED problems have not but if my E2 levels are off which is what I am thinking then I wont have to take viagra anymore... well I hope I wont.

Just got your book today and cannot wait to read it.
