Heart Meds and BP in relation to sex drive

Hi there, I have been on TRT for aver 10 years with no real issues in the bedroom. But recently diagnosed with high BP and a weak ejection fraction (heart beat). Lisinopril 10mg daily for BR and Carvedilol 6.25mg 2x daily beta blocker. It has ruined my sex drive and if I can maintain long enough, ejaculate is almost non existant. Anybody in similar cercumstance or any advice on different meds etc. Oh I take 200mg test a week

I use a beta blocker for palpitations and tachycardia and some BP, it's called Metoprolol 25mg, I think its extended release. I haven't had any negative sides with it. It hasn't effected my minor ED issues.

QUOTE=Vince;51364]I would consider that normal 50-55%. Who told you that was low?[/QUOTE]

Vince I started on Metropolol but it made me feel tired and foggy. The Rise in EF I was told was not a cure, but the effect of the Carvedilol. I also attribute it to the 300mg of Co Q I take daily on my own
My Cardiologist said it has not been proven to effect EF, I politely disagreed.

A good friend of mine EF was very low, he also credited Co q-10 with healing his heart. But he used higher amounts then you, I believe he took 300mg twice a day.

This study might be useful. Have a read and discuss with your doc.

I would discuss with your doctor and ask if you could be switched to a class of medication less commonly associated with your symptoms.

alpha blockers, calcium channel blockers, ACE inhibitors, & ARBs

Also, if you're looking for a great tool to help manage more complex cases, I recommend medivizor.com (I am not affiliated with them and they are free). It's a neat technology that takes your medical history and presents you with research you may find useful. You can also search for as an example, HRT, Hypertension, and ED.

I was switched from losartan to telmisartan. Losartan was not bringing the bp down enough. So far Telmisartan has dropped it to normal range. I have also had a substantial increase in libido and positive effect on erection quality from the telmisartan. Also not sure but I seem to have a positive mood boost.
