HCG - TRT experience and labs....Endo vs TRT doctor which approach?

Hello All,

First time poster (33 years old) looking for some thoughts as many of you are very knowledgeable and may have some experience to help my recovery. I am grateful for any feedback.

2011 - 2013 on and off TRT (tried natural approaches with minimal success)

2014
After roughly 5 weeks on HCG and as of September 1, 2014

These three were low
LH 0.7....1.5 - 9.3
SBGH 10......10 - 50
Total Testosterone 248..... 241-827 ng/dL

Estradiol 26.......<39 pg/mL
FreeT3 3.2........2.3-4.2 pg/mL
DHEAS 455......31-40 Years 106-464
IFG-1 224
FT4 1.1....... 0.8-1.8 ng/dL
Free Test 64.7......35.0 - 155.0 ng/dL


I have two options.

Option A. Go with my endocrinologist who got me approved for 100 mg test cyp every week for the next six months all covered by my insurance (then the insurance re-evaluates i guess.) He did tell me that I should stop the HCG as "You dont need that unless you are having trouble trying to get your gf/wife pregnant". He also told me that using an AI is "nonsense" unless the labs show its necessary. So basically with him it will be test cyp at 100 mg a week and thats it but free. He is however open minded about getting whatever blood work I need to get done every 1 or 2 months.

Option B. I have an TRT doc who prescribes test cyp at whatever doses are necessary but he charges 200 a month for his program here in NJ. He also is available by phone and email and whatever else i need prescribed the cost stays at 200 a month. This does not include blood work which can be expensive out of pocket I believe.

Thoughts? Recommendations?

Option A BUT with the HCG needed in the protocol.

HCG is approved for use by the FDA to prevent testicular atrophy and should be covered by your insurance. One can simply read the package insert to see that now.

100 mg each week is a good starting dose for where you are.

Agree, you don't need an AI unless your E2 levels warrant based on blood work.

Read in here on why you need HCG when on TRT it's very important in my opinion and there's a reason all the top TRT Doc's include it in their men's protocols.

I agree that I should have the HCG bu the only catch is that my my endo will not prescribe HCG to me as he said it isn't necessary right now.

Scorelando - See my link here, I know men who gotten prescriptions based on these papers after Doc's said no to HCG therapy. Make sure your Doctor reads the study abstract in this paper as well.

I can tell than the HCG stimulation protocol did not work. How much HCG, how frequently and for how long? What were your lab values before HCG?

Option A may be the most economical. You can always talk to him more about HCG by printing our HCG info:

Found a TRT clinic in NJ and started HCG end of July 2014

August 1, 2014 (1 week on HCG)

This is the strange part!

August 28, 2014 (almost 6 weeks after starting HCG)
Testosterone, Total 248.... 348 - 1197
Free Test 119.0......35.0 - 155.0 ng/dL

A few day later.....September 1, 2014 (insurance wanted two levels low at 8 am within a week)
Testosterone, Total 349.... 348 - 1197
Free Test 64.7......35.0 - 155.0 ng/dL
LH 0.7....1.5 - 9.3
SBGH 10......10 - 50
Estradiol 26.......<39 pg/mL
FreeT3 3.2........2.3-4.2 pg/mL

I will also have blood test results at 3 months of HCG protocol very soon. However, I just started the TRT as I am going back to work and do not want to have low T and the handling a stressful job with poor numbers.

How can the numbers go up 100 points in just a few days (took both tests in the morning)?

My HCG protocol
Month 1 = 1,000 iu injections 3x a week.
Month 2 = 750 iu injections 3x a week.
Month 3 = 250 iu injections 3x a week (current)
