I read recently that it is beneficial to take a 1-2 month break from HCG, this could explain why some of us experience diminishing effects with long term use. I know most don’t give credence to the desensitization possibility but curious if it is worth trying.

Not true. No reason to take a break from HCG

There are concerns about long term high dose HCG use and its potential effect on desensitization of Leydig cells to it.

But not from regular doses that men use on trt.

Study done in vitro (in the lab) using cells, not mice or humans.

I have used HCG for 6 years nonstop and it still works to keep my testicles full. I am only reminded on how well it works when I forget to inject HCG.
