Hi. I've been on TRT since Feb 2014. The only E2 test that is available for me is The Estradiol Male test, not an ultra sensitive. Last time my E2 was checked it was 40. The doc said that was the high range of normal and high was 42.

Is is this test acceptable or does it mean diddly because it's not the ultra sensitive?

Ultrasensitive almost always comes up much lower than the regular E2 test. By the way, 40 pg/mL is not high in either test.

This is the most precise estradiol test for me provided by Labcorp:

Estradiol, LCMS
Test Number: 500108 CPT Code: 82670

This is the test performed by Quest Diagnostics:

Estradiol, Ultrasensitive, LC/MS/MS

Test Code 30289 CPT Code 82670

Thank you for the reply. Here was the response I got when I asked for the Untrasensitive test.

"I checked with lab and have been informed that the Ultra Sensitive Estradiol test, performed at Aurora and its partner laboratories, is meant specifically for females only as there are no established reference ranges for males. Therefore, the doctor would be unble to advise on your result as normal or abnormal and make appropriate adjustments to your treatment plan.

The Estradiol Male test ordered on your behalf specifically targets males and offers a result reference range that allows the physician to make necessary changes to your plan of care.

If I can be of any further assistance, please contact the clinic. "
