DHT levels monitoring or addressing

Hello guys, I'm trying to understand how my DHT levels are being monitored. What are added medications available to lower conversion to DHT? I don't know if my 'pattern baldness' is due to age (71) also slowly increasing PSA levels. Any info will help

High DHT can contribute to male pattern hair loss and ache. Blocking DHT has it's risks while not blocking it doesn't have known risks.

Robbing Peter to pay Paul doesn't work out in the long run.

AI Overview
Men lose hair as they age due to a variety of factors, including:
  • Male pattern baldness
A genetic trait that causes hair follicles to shrink due to androgens, a male sex hormone. It's the most common type of hair loss in men, affecting about 80% of men by age 70.
  • Telogen effluvium
A disorder that causes hair to extend its resting phase, resulting in sudden, heavy shedding. It can be caused by stress, illness, hormonal disorders, or an inadequate diet. Hair loss from telogen effluvium is usually temporary, but it can become chronic.
    • Hormonal changes
As men age, their testosterone levels decrease, which can lead to hair loss and hair growth in new places, like the ears.
    • Medications
Some medications can cause hair loss as a side effect, known as drug-induced alopecia. This can affect the scalp or other parts of the body.
    • Thyroid disease
An underlying health condition that can impact hair growth and appearance
    • Traction alopecia
Hair loss caused by excess stress on the hair and scalp, which can often be irreversible. This is common in men and women with long hair.

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Dihydrotestosterone is a potent androgen derived from testosterone. Affects hair growth, prostate health, and masculinization effects.

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
