Hi. I started taking Cialis for performance anxiety after a 12 year relationship ended.
I was able to get solid erections have sex with my ex girlfriend and masturbate, no problems.

When I started seeing a new partner, I wanted to make sure I was able to perform so I got a prescription for Cialis. I started taking about 5 mg almost every day. The effects were great and could get an erection every time.

This is my worry. I would wake up at night with erections that would take 5 to 10 minutes to go down. Sometimes I would wake up multiple times. I’m worried that I might have suffered from priapism at night and have done damage to my penis tissue. I have stopped taking Cialis and am unable to get an erection even while masturbating. Could this just be a psychological issue? Are erections at night that wake you up normal? Could I have suffered pirapism at night and not know it? Or am I worrying about nothing?

Any information would be helpful. Thank you.

I think you are worrying about nothing, when you are taking your pill, I would chalk this up to the normal occurrence of the nocturnal erection. I wake up frequently with great wood and I find it reassuring, LOL. I soon fall back asleep and yeah, it subsides.

I do not think you could really have an injurious episode while sleeping as priapism would be very uncomfortable and painful. Obviously, you also fall back asleep and the erection subsides.

If I were you Id just be content that things are woking down there.

Your chances of getting priapism would be very, very rare especially when the medication is taken appropriately.

There were no reported cases of priapism in the clinical trials.

Men may be more prone to priapism when overdosing, used with intracavernosal injections, or have certain conditions that might predispose them.

I have been taking daily tadalafil for 2 years mainly for the health benefits as I never really had issues with ED other than when I had low-T which had a negative impact on erectile function (lack of spontaneous, most likely nocturnal, and morning erections) and libido.

I have been on TRT since December 2016.

When I first started using daily tadalafil I would take it in the morning and I always struggled with the side effects (headaches, back pain, nasal congestion, flushing, dyspepsia) after being on dailies for a while my body adjusted somewhat but I could never shake off the sides.

Eventually got fed up and started taking it just before bed and never experienced a side since!

Wicked nocturnal/morning wood now.

Love it.

Hang in there everything will be okay.

PRODUCT MONOGRAPH

PrCIALIS®
(tadalafil tablets)

2.5 mg, 5 mg tablets (for Once-a-Day use)
10 mg, 20 mg tablets (for “On-Demand” dosing)

cGMP-Specific Phosphodiesterase Type 5 Inhibitor

Sexual Function/Prolonged Erection

Priapism was not reported in clinical trials with CIALIS. However, priapism has been reported rarely in post-marketing surveillance with PDE5 inhibitors, including tadalafil. The incidence of priapism may increase when PDE5 inhibitors are used in combination with intrapenile injections containing vasoactive agents. Patients who experience erections lasting 4 hours or more should be instructed to seek immediate medical assistance. If priapism is not treated immediately, penile tissue damage and permanent loss of potency may result.

Tadalafil should be used with caution in patients who have conditions that might predispose them to priapism (such as sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, or leukemia), or in patients with anatomical deformation of the penis (such as angulation, cavernosal fibrosis, or Peyronie’s
disease).

One of my replies:

Daily is the way to go and you will notice stronger/firmer/longer-lasting erections when erect and the penis will be fuller/plumper when flaccid let alone sensitivity/orgasms will increase due to improved blood flow and top it off you will notice an increase in the quality of erections achieved during sleep NPT (nocturnal penile tumescence).

When you wake up in the middle of the night during NPT you will know what I mean.

Underlying vascular health will play a strong role in how well you respond to a said dose.

2.5-5 mg is the dose used when taking daily.

Many are using 5 mg/day but others may experience the beneficial effects when using a dose on the lower end of 2.5 mg/day.

More than 50% of men in the Cialis trials, who were given a placebo got an erection, after being unable to for some time, because the ED was psychological.

The pressure to perform, the worrying about not being able to get an erection when it was time to perform, the anxiety ended up causing the ED.

This was the only study I could find.

So you do not get nasal congestion during the night or it does not bother you?

Thank you to all who replied.

One more question I was splitting 10 mg pills but wasn’t that accurate so I was probably getting more than 5 mg per day. Could this cause any damage to the penile tissue?

Have no idea why I can’t get an erection without taking Cialis now. When I started talking it, it was only for performance anxiety. I could masturbate no problem without.

Any insight as greatly appreciated.

Asked and answered. You asked the same question as before, only in a different way. Anxiety makes it difficult to learn, scrambles the brain making you resistant to absorbing new information.

No, Cialis improves penal tissue by reversing endothelial dysfunction.

You’ve convinced yourself you can’t get an erection, so you can’t. Don’t underestimate the power of the mind.

Didn't you experience nocturnal erections when you were a teen and into your 20's/30's? . When I was younger nocturnal erections were the norm and sometimes they would last for 10 or 15 minutes. Priapism would be an erection that lasts 4 hours or longer. Enjoy them and share them with your new lover! I'd enjoy being awakened through the night with wood.

you probably wake up at night with wood now, because you weren't getting nocturnal work before. its sounds like possibly you are or were sitting on the edge of getting ED. In other words, you could get erections before, but didn't get nocturnal erections, which is a warning sign of coming ED. Add in the generic Cialis, which opens up the blood vessels needed, and boom, all the nocturnal wood returns. that is what would actually be expected, and is not abnormal, is frankly very normal....wait until your girlfriend figures this out, and you wake up with her helping herself! Lucky boy. But, cautionary, if this does mean you are dancing on the edge of ED, you have some work to do. It means the small vessels in your body are getting occluded or losing their smooth muscle response. this is a bad omen for FUTURE heart disease. Get busy with exercise, lose some weight, take care of yourself, talk to your doc about cholesterol, BP, and any other health concerns that may be contributing. Better to catch it now, than later!

Problem with talking to one's doctor is that they will throw a statin at you and if your BP is elevated, a BP med, with one or both meds possibly negatively impacting erectile function...for which the doctor will then prescribe...here it comes... a PDE5 inhibitor. What became Viagra was originally to be used as a cardiac medication until men in the clinical study started getting spontaneous erections and the marketing department at Pfizer shouted, 'Hold the phone!'

Many men with hypertension and CVD are prescribed a PDE5 inhibitor to improve or restore erectile function. The poster is doing fine with Cialis. I know your advice is well intentioned but as the adage goes, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it.'

let me state a very basic fact. you do not have to take a single prescription your doctor gives you. not a fucking single one. is that a revelation for some people?
IMHO 5mg isn't enough to go from full blown ED to good erections. for me it also decreases penile sensitivity. if can't get up without it, 100% psychological

I had a similar experience when I first started taking it. I'd wake up with rock hard erections during the night. So hard, it almost hurt and would take up to a half hour to go down. When I told my doctor, he said it was normal and not to worry about it.
I've been on it for years now, and that happens a lot less than it used to.
Still wake up with an erection occasionally during the night, but not as often and not as rigid as it was. To be honest, I kind of miss it. Reminded me of when I was a teenager.

I was doing 5 mg/daily of tadalafil. After three days, there was significant improvement, including my first spontaneous erection in many years...until I started experiencing spontaneous nose bleeds; three in one day. A shame.

First off, sorry to hear about your relationship ending, but kudos for taking steps to address performance anxiety. Now, regarding those night-time erections while taking Cialis, let's clear the air. It's actually quite common to have "morning wood" or nocturnal erections, even without Cialis in the picture. It's a sign that your plumbing down there is in good working order. However, if you're experiencing prolonged or painful erections, that's when you gotta pay attention. Priapism, while rare, can be a concern. Since you've stopped taking Cialis and are having trouble getting erections, it's worth discussing with your doc. It could be psychological or even a temporary adjustment period. Remember, Cialis professional kaufen doesn't mess around, so it's best to consult a professional for proper guidance. Hang in there, mate!

I take 5mg of cialis daily and am appreciative of the ability to get it up at any time. I also use trimix for assuring erection lasting an hour or so. My lady likes it in the a.m. so I pop my cialis, shoot the trimix and we have pleasant morning sessions of an hour or so. I do wake up with a hard on sometimes around 4 am but a few strokes and it subsides. you must take the good with the bad man.... nothing is perfect but if you do with out and can not get it up I would start it again asap....if you have nothing planned and do not want a woody take a benedryl before bed it will keep you johnny soft all night long.
