Once in a while I will read a comment that makes me laugh or shake my head(WTF)
and thought it would be a good idea to have a place to post.

some examples:

As a contrast, years ago, I was referred to a urologist for low T; one test was even below 200. He had me take my shirt off to examine me, saw that I had chest hair, and said that I was fine.

Mine blamed my Marriage and suggested to look at porn to raise T level, No joke. After I meet with dumb doc I was lost for 4yrs before looking back into TRT.

I tried talking to my GP first he is a nice guy and get along good but when he was recommending OTC products to raise my LH/FSH when I'm primary hypogonadism and they where already at the top of the range I knew it was time to go elsewhere.

I had a doc - at a local, supposedly cutting edge TRT clinic - tell me that my single digit SHBG was a huge benefit. I challenged him to Google "Low SHBG TRT" and never went back. Now that may not be as bad as the 'one T shot every 4 weeks' doctors, but its pretty sad none the less.

My primary told me he could give me t shots every month in the office but could not prescribe it to me because insurance would freak out and want to know why im getting Test prescribed to me...

Female GP I was forced with when my Male Dr left the clinic (i was already on Androgel with him and it was working well enough at that point) so I go in to her and say hey I need some refills..."OMG your T is 582...that's way too high. You're too young to be on this. You're using too much (2 pumps)"...I left and never went back to her.

I had an internist (if I remember correctly it was an internist) tell me at age 28 that 220 ng/DL was in range for Total Testosterone and that I was depressed and needed an SSRI.......
Had a GP 3 years later tell me the same thing.
How these people have diploma's on their walls is beyond frightening.

"let's get you downstairs for a CAT SCAN with dye right way" then

"let's get that kidney out right away"

sort of on par with Dr. Allan Pont, CPMC, San Francisco
"hCG! No legitimate use whatsoever, can not raise serum T, Testicular prosthesis if size matters." "once a month t-cyp is all anyone needs" leutenizing hormone has nothing whatsoever to do with endogenous T production or sperm health"

"I treat players on the major league teams. No way am I prescribing controlled substances for patients who don't need them" "I got a nice house and a good income which I earned at being the best at what I do"

I dedicated a thread to this Endochonologist from Hell

My local GP commented that if she requests a full panel of labs for me as I requested, it may flag up something I don't like the look of....wtf...isn't that the whole idea of running labs so you can address issues rather than bury your head in the sand....
This is the same GP that said E2 has nothing to do with T therapy.
Needless to say after that meeting I went private......

These are the reasons why I'm so glad a site like this exists so people can say WTF that's not right and help educate each other!

My FORMER TRT doc told me, after I started injections, that it would do no good to run tests for Total or Free T as injections cause your T levels to "go all over the place" - so no tests to check T levels (He's a pellet doctor).

At the same visit he went over my test for estradiol (non-sensitive). When I asked him about do the ultra-sensitive test he said he'd never heard of it ---- even though Quest had in bold letters on the lab report that men should have the ultra-sensitive test....

I walked out and never went back. Now, I'm just getting started with Defy and Dr. Saya - NO comparison. I was SO relieved to FINALLY talk to somebody who actually knew what they were talking about and cared about my treatment plan.

As mentioned by another guy, I too had a doc who claimed to be cutting edge with hormone replacement therapy for men tell me that he's never heard of a sensitive estradiol test.

I also had a primary care physician tell me he did not want to prescribe testosterone for me to self-inject because he would be questioned by the feds because they may think he was prescribed in testosterone to a drug dealer.

Low T Center had me taking .5mg Anastrozole once per week, then don't take it this week, OK take it this week, and so on, combined with the once per week injections and my very low SHBG, I was having a terrible experience with them. Only bright spot was my insurance was picking it up with a $15 copay each week.

I'm ordering my needles online now, but a few months ago I went to a local pharmacy to buy 27 gauge 1/2 inch needles, and was told by the pharmacist that she won't sell me that size because it wouldnt work. The testosterone would be too thick and the needle is too thin. I told her I've been using that size for quite a while. She finally sold them to me after about 10 minutes of debate.

My first Doc said "I can tell you don't have low t just by looking at you"

My endo referral (to Boston) listened to me for a moment about my belief that I had high E2, he examined me and said I was OK, "You don't have breasts" .
I was referred by my PCP who stated, "You don't need to test estriodol, Men have Testosterone and woman have Estrogen"
Both were fired on the spot.

Oh boy.

My GP also has an antiaging practice. He's a pleasant enough guy. I told him about my TRT and discussed it over a couple of visits. He was pretty skeptical. As was I when he told me about his.

- Self injecting? Why?
- 100mg *every* week???
- Can you get 'cypionate' it in the US?
- HCG - where did you hear about that? Are you trying to lose weight?
- AI? I use natural methods to control estrogen.

About his;:

- 50mg (T) or less per week Is best because natural production is not affected.
- Total Estrogen gives me the picture I need to manage your health.
- Sensitive? Never heard of it.
- Injections are dangerous. All of my patients use troches (for T!) and love it.
- TSH is all I need to know how your thyroid is doing. (But doc, it's a pituitary hormone...<ignored>)
- my (homeopathic) HCG spray will get you to <10% body fat just like that.

Eventually he got frustrated and lectured me thusly, "A nine year old riding in the back seat of a minivan thinks he knows how to drive a Formula 1 car. But he doesn't."

Burn!

I stopped trying.

My MD that started me on TRT at 100mg per week and A1 but no HCG, said HCG was off label. in the mean time I found this web site and learned a lot. After 6 months had new blood work and then app with MD. Was told since my test was above 700 I could cut my test from 100mg to 50mg per week because test will stay up with half the dose. This is when I went with Defy and Dr. Saya.

Endo at Kaiser told me I was a Manny Ramirez "wanna-be" for wanting to look into HCG. Same endo also told me it was illegal for me to self inject testosterone. He tried to school me on what the term "Controlled Substance" meant, stating it legally had to be in control of the physician. I then asked him if Vicodin was a "controlled substance?" He hesitated, then said YES, but then said that was a different category of controlled substance.

It's bad enough when these folks are not up to speed on how HRT really works, but it should be a crime when they just flat out start drumming up BS and lying. At least my GP will say she doesn't know something, as opposed to spewing BS!

Oh yeah, the same endo just wigged when my labs came back 900ng/dl on total serum!! He said anything above 650 is a risk for a heart attack and very dangerous. I asked him where he factors Free /Bio Test into the discussion?? He said that doesn't matter, total serum is what doctors look at.

In all honesty, that's when I made the commitment to educate myself on this stuff. That's been almost 8 years ago. If the guy had not been so blatantly arrogant and obvious with his lack of knowledge, I might not have been so motivated to jump in with all of this. Once I started learning some of the basics with all of it, I was even more intrigued, and I found myself looking to learn more.
