Thought I would get opinions of those of you who could not tolerate Cialis due to side effects and what works better with less side effects - generic Viagra or Levitra. I have tried the 5mg daily Cialis off and on for months now and first couple days are ok then the sinus stuffiness, body aches and nausea take over. I just can't take the stuff.

I have taken Viagra in the past but have never taken Levitra. Viagra worked but also got some sinus
stuffiness and back aches so was thinking about trying Levitra generic next.

Your experiences with Levitra generic would be appreciated.

Thought I read somewhere that Nelson was taking Levitra due to lesser side effects. Hopefully
he will see this post and give us his expert opinion..

I'd like to know more about people's experiences with Levitra also. Cialis just doesn't agree with me, and with its long half life the sides stick with you.

I also have problems with Cialis even at 5 mg per day. Levitra is great specially if I use the sublingual troches from Empower pharmacy.

Nelson, may I ask how much does the Levitra cost you from Empower and also, what is the dosage amount you take nightly? Thanks for valuable input as you can see there are several other members who has problems with Cialis and Viagra.

For me Levitra gave me more energy. In other words after you are done you may be a bit chatty and ready for round 2. Because of wonderful insurance I switched back to Cialis. It used to give me headaches and a stiff neck. Made it hard to sleep. But that was with the single doses. Now I am on 5mg per day and I have no issues fortunately. As an experiment I took two 5mg and I got a stiff neck and headache but not too bad. So I know the 5mg keeps me right under those side effects.

What you should know about PDE5i's:

Half-life:
Viagra: 4 Hours
Lavitra: 6 Hours
Cialis: 16 Hours

Strength
#1: Lavitra
#2: Viagra
#3: Cialis

Cialis is the only one of the 3 class PDE5i's that is FDA approved for daily use and for use managing BPH.

Lavitra and Viagra are not recommended to be used daily.

If you want the daily health benefits of a PDE5i beyond EQ, only Cialis is your ideal choice.

FWIW, Dr. Shippen will prescribe daily low dose Levitra(vardenafil) or low dose Viagra(sidenafil) for his patients who don't tolerate Cialis. He says there is still a benefit.

Just found out Defy can prescribe Levitra (Vardenafil) thru Empower Pharmacy. Nurse Jill and Jasen Bruce both were very helpful in getting this set up. Hopefully will work a lot better than Cialis and Viagra without the side effects.

How much does it cost through Defy? And how do you like it so far?

It is much much better than Cialis and Viagra. Works just as well as both without the side effects. First time taking it felt flushed for about 10 minutes. Afterwards, no problems. No sinus, back, nausea issues. Definitely worth the little bit more than the compounded Cialis. Everything hung better next day, energy level ticked up and am very well satisfied. Cost was $10.50 ea for 20 mg troches. I cut them in half and take 10mg nightly. Highly recommended and best part is Defy can get these thru Empower. Hope your experience goes as well!

But still not FDA approved and what's the point with such short half life?

One would need to dose multiple times a day every day.

For me Levitra from India works great. I also take 2 teaspoons of L-Arginine about 15 to 20 minutes before hand. The Levitra works best for me if I wait a hour or two.

The generic Cialis also works good but the sides are stuffy nose, when I was taking Cialis daily I had real bad lower back pain. I like Cialis I take 20mg before hand and it works good but not as good as the Levitra. My wife even made a comment and said that pill you are taking (Levitra) really works good.

Viagra did nothing for me. I took 100mg. Everybody is different and reacts different.

I would try the Levitra at least for me I notice no side effects.

Nelson,

I too have had dreadful sinus congestion (especially laying on my back in bed) with the Cialis. I was actually using it as part of the "Gene Stack." Did you find that the Levitra didn't have quite as bad sinus issues? That seems to be my only negative side effect from Tadalafil. I never had any back pain and such. I too have been using the troches from Empower. Could I use the Levitra troches in a similar way in the stack?

Thanks,
Jason

I think it would work. In fact, I love the off-brand from ADC, and 5mg will last 12 hours for me, despite the half-life of 6 hours. I thought it was placebo until I found this study. It turns out that the affinity of Levitra is so strong that even with low plasma levels, it is still bound and active up to 12 hours.

This high potencymeans that vardenafil has veryhigh affinity for its binding site on the PDE5
molecule, the so-called catalytic binding site. It is
at this site in the enzyme that PDE5-Is bind,
displacing cyclic guanosine monophosphate and
thus preventing it hydrolysis. Blount et al. [4] have
also reported that once vardenafil is bound to
PDE5 its ‘‘off-rate’’ or detachment of the PDE5-
vardenafil complex is very slow compared to
that of tadalafil or sildenafil. So when vardenafil
enters the cell and reaches its target, it is ‘‘sequestered’’
in the cell because of its high affinity binding
to PDE5. It would be possible then to have low
plasma levels of vardenafil while the drug is
attached to its target in the cell. This may explain,
at least in part, the apparent discrepancy between
plasma half-life and duration of efficacy reported
by Porst et al. [1].

From the comments, I'll consider Levitra. Tadalifil liquid, even 1 mg, gives me a headache that lasts a day and a half. I've tried 5 to 10 mg and it does get me hard, but with that debilitating headache. Frustrating to have a strong libido without accompanying erection.

I think we all react slightly differently to each of these drugs. Cialis gave me a backache for the first few weeks I was on it, but I just took it before bedtime. Levitra messes my ears up. And Viagra works very well but the headache, nasal congestion, flushing skin, and turning my vision blue not great.

Beyond Testosterone Book by Nelson Vergel
True, SilverSurfer. I ordered Levitra from India. Maybe a waste of money, as I might respond, negatively. Trimix or suppositories in the urethra aren't preferable. My wife blows hot and cold on sex and I want to be able to take advantage of her hot moments, which a PDE-5 inhibitor would allow.
