Choice of HBP medications

Hi,

Since I read on this forum that Doxazosin (Alpha blockers) is good for not only HBP but also has other positive effects for ED, among others (“Gene´s NO stack”), so I ask my doc if I could change my HBP medications ACE inhibitor and Calcium channel blocker and his answer was more or less “oh no that´s an older treatment not very much prescribed now a days”.

I also read on this forum that Angiotensin II receptor blockers (Losartan) as well have good effects on ED among others etc.. So I would like to ask my doc if that could be an alternative to what I take at the moment.

Before my next appointment I would like to hear from this Forum what do you think and advice. Since Doxazosin is not an alternative could or should I propose Losartan and why (need some arguments). What are the main benefits compared to the ones I am taking?

I use losartan (hyzaar) for HBP and have been on it for couple years with no adverse side effects. I follow Genes stack along with occasional use of viagra or cialis (recreationally) but have never had ED that was related to the BP meds.

Doctors are afraid of alpha blockers since they can cause hypotensic (low BP) episodes if overdosed or not monitored properly at the start of therapy. But they are great for ED and BPH.
