Aspirate or No?

Using A 27 gauge 1/2 inch needle, should you aspirate or not? What do you guys do who use this small of a pin?

I don't for SubQ, but always for any type of IM. It takes two seconds, and if you're in a vein you want to know. I've had only 2 times where I pulled back a pocket of blood, but those were 2 times that I was glad I aspirated!

Yeah, like Chris I aspirate. Strictly needed? Look how many senior members don't, so it may not be. But I take just a moment...most of the time...

I agree if you can why not, better safe than sorry
