Are My Blood Results Not Sufficient For TRT?

I am a 34-year-old male 6'1, 250 lbs, inspiring bodybuilder who has been suffering from fatigue, low libido, and most importantly overall issues to gain substantial muscle mass since I was 27. I was gonna go to a UGL to not have to deal with the awkwardness of asking a trained medical professional for help to achieve my goals.
BUT... After finally being convinced by my gym partner who is a competition bodybuilder, I went to Dr. Larry Lipshultz, a very well regarded and knowledgable urologist who has helped bodybuilders, to finally discuss being helped to help with my symptoms as well ask for TRT. The meeting went well, I was a little nervous and overall did not know what to expect from the consultation. He did say he would be able to help me, but however for a male of my age, my testosterone results would need to be below 400 before he can prescribe any TRT. We had discussed having me placed on test cypionate 100mg if everything works out with the bloodwork. My test yielded results of 404 ng/dl. This is highly annoying. Has anyone been able to get a physician to prescribe TRT with this number?
What was surprising to me and what I do not understand why my estradiol is would be so high, and why my hematocrit is high. My goal is to be placed on TRT. This is my intention. I have goals with my body that I want to accomplish. I do not want to use a UGL. I did use that 2 years ago, my first and only test cycle for bodybuilding, and coming off was an awful experience even with the right PCT protocol. I would rather have a medical trained M.D who understands bodybuilding and would provide a recommended dosage of testosterone than having to do a standard cookie-cutter bodybuilding UGL dosage /cycle. Any help and discussion would be greatly appreciated.

Defy Medical TRT clinic doctor
Defy will prescribe you test.

Thanks, I looked at them as well , but I am not interested in the high cost of Defy nor the fact that you purchase the TRT directly from them. My insurance covers 100 percent of my medical visits with Lipshultz and the TRT is also 100 percent covered as long as I pick it up from a pharmacy in their network.

I don't think insurance will pay if your T is 404 ng/dl. You have to get prior authorization for insurance. You can get a doctor to give you a prescription but insurance is not going to go for it. The doctors that will put you on TRT don't do prior authorization and are cash only. If you want to play in the TRT world you are going to pay cash and get your T from where they want you to. If you don't want to do that you can see an endocrinologist and do a sleep study.

If you’re a competitive bodybuilder you’re gonna need more than 100mg/wk. Top guys pay tens of thousands of dollars per year on this stuff.

Anyway... if you just want higher T and he won’t prescribe test then just ask him for clomid.

Also if you’re with defy, a $100 bottle of test will last you 5 months at 100mg per week. You probably spend more on protein powder.

If you want to lower your testosterone, just try supplementing with DHEA. Buy the cheap stuff. It should convert your testosterone into estrogen and give you lower testosterone numbers. If you try it, let me know how it works for you.

The problem with this is as noted insurance won't pick it up because you don't qualify because of the 404, I think it's like 250 now. And that's different than some one willing to treat you.

Not advocating this, but it's easy to manipulate a testosterone test result. I once dropped mine from low 300s to low 100s just through licorice root, sleep deprivation and alcohol consumption.

My guess is the OP is already supplementing with DHEA.

If I were looking to game the system, I would do as cataceous suggests. One way, not the only way to game the system. IMO the healthcare system is largely gamed against us.

But the OP's already high HCT and high E2 is going to be a problem if he goes on TRT.

@MuggleMax

What is the OP's goal here? Getting T to 1000 isn't going to make him a competitive bodybuilder, you would likely need to go much higher. It will help put on muscle, but only limited amount of help.

Realistically, why even try to became an elite body builder if your genetics isn't suitable? One needs to be at the top of that career to gain any fame or money.

I would also be curious about the rest of the blood work, liver enzymes. iron panel, thyroid. Something negative does seem to be going on.

@Vince Carter

I thought the point should be obvious, there is a time stamp on when the blood is drawn, while no one knows what supplements you are taking and how much sleep you had.

Several studies say this is incorrect: What Hormones Does DHEA Change?
I actually wrote a thread on it. How my testosterone would decrease and my estrogen would increase when I use DHEA. The higher amounts of DHEA I used the higher my estrogen went and the lower my testosterone went. It did cause me to convert testosterone into estrogen. This was before I started trt. I never try the experiment when I was on testosterone. Of course this was a study of one "me"

This is very interesting, but given its rarity it should not serve as the basis for advice; the research studies contradicting it have a combined "N" that is relatively large.
