I wanting to treat my elevated glucose levels that are not decreasing after meals or have improved at all in 3 years whether on TRT or off, I wanted to know the best alternative to metformin do to the side effects encountered, I tried berberine which had no affect on glucose levels.

Much appreciated.

There is a peptide similar to Victoza but I don't recall the name of it or how you can get it. I think it was Jay Campbell and a guest talking about it. If you have diabetes you can just get the Victoza or Trulicity.

Some people find benefit from Bitter melon. I would look more toward diet and activity. If you only consume carbs right after significant activity you should be more insulin sensitive at those times. Have you tried Dr. Davis's protocol of "no blood sugar rise" eating? Also, 10 minutes of activity (even walking) after every meal should also be a benefit. I would be very leery of Victoza or Trulicity. These both stimulate insulin production and chronically high insulin is not good. With those you're just trading one problem for another problem. Fasting as well as very low carb sound like your best options.

Here's a list of supplements I used with very good results (from Dr. Whitaker). Of course, you also need to eliminate certain sugar-spiking foods (I'm sure you know what those are), plus you need some sort of regular exercise program which makes you sweat.

  • Vitamin B complex
  • Alpha Lipoic Acid
  • Chromium
  • Magnesium
  • Potassium (lets insulin and energy into cells!)
  • Cinnamon
  • Green Tea Extract
  • Gymnema Sylvestre
  • D-chiro-Inositol and D Pinitol
  • Berberine
  • Vitamin D3
  • Pomegranate Extract
