Air Bubble/Aspiration/Injection Worries

Hi Everyone!

I've been back on trt for 2 months now after a year stint of using clomid, and everything is going great. The only issue I've been having is with injection anxiety and worrying I'm going to accidentally inject into a vein.

I'm injecting E3.5 days rotating between outer thighs and delts. I'm using 25g 1.5inch for my thighs and 25g 1 inch for my delts (Bodyfat is probably around 26%).

My first question/problem has to do with getting air out of the syringe prior to injection. I have watched a lot of videos on preparing the syringe and I feel my technique is good, but at the very end when I'm pushing out the air bubble with my 25g there almost always seems to be a leftover bubble that is fairly small just under the very base of the needle. This is even after drops of test have came out of the needle. My first question is should I be worried about this small bubble? And how the hell do I get it out of there w/o wasting my t by trying to keep pushing it out?

I'm also curious about aspirating properly. When I aspirate, I pull back on the plunger slowly, feel the vacuum and see a couple air bubble looking things enter the syringe. When I let go of the plunger the air bubbles don't seem to disappear as I've read they should. Is this due to the bubble that I was talking about earlier? Is the aspiration still fine, as long as I see no blood? Lastly, I had a weird thing happen to me twice where when I aspirated there was a string of blood that was very small in the air bubble. I pulled the needle out both times, changed needles, re-injected and was fine, but I've been reading that if you are actually in a vein the needle will fill w blood quickly and I've seen a video where blood is actually completely in the shape of a bubble. I'm just kind of confused on what I saw.

Lastly, I'm terrified of accidentally injecting into a vein. I've read stories ranging from it feeling like you're going to die and passing out to guys just having to cough for a minute or so. I'm only injecting 0.2ml at a time, so I think that wouldn't be enough volume to really mess me up. I'm getting very anxious over this, even though it's never happened to me. I just need a little reassurance that with proper aspiration and technique I'll be ok. Also, If anyone has gotten the cough I'd like to know how bad it is. I can deal with coughing my lungs out, but feeling like I'm going to die kind of freaks me out.

Thanks for all of your help!

You can pull back on the syringe after you pin yourself, before you inject, to make sure your not in a vein. I just started trt and had the same question about that last tiny air bubble that always stays at the top. The folks at defy told me not to worry about it.

You try your best to get those bubbles out but inevitably you will eventually inject a few small ones. I've done it many times without issue.

NO need at all to aspirate, this isn't an IV injection. The small bubble, again, is of no concern because this isn't IV. Because this is IM (or SQ) none of those concerns you have actually mean anything.

I never aspirate either, ventrogluteal. I would go to a smaller syringe, 29g, .5ml, 1/2" is plenty. Load times are slower but injection times are fine.

Larry85376 - I always aspirate, but will admit it's more a force of habit over the years than any true concern. Never a bad idea to do it, just not 'necessarily necessary' if you get the bubbles out and inject into muscle.

I agree, you will always have some small bubbles left. It's easy to aspirate in the thigh and ventorgluteal.

Best Injection site, no aspiration needed, avoids all nerves.

How do you guys find it? I've taken a look at the link provided and all I feel in my hip bone (I have fairly wide and large hip structure for a man).

I feel where my hip bone is and moved down from there. I've copied a picture of the area and kept it by my syringes, it did take some practice but now it's easy.

For shoulders I use: 27g-1/2" no problems at all.
For Quads I use: 25g-5/8" no problems at all.

How lean are you guys? I have above average body fat and I worry if I went to a 27g-1/2" I wouldn't be injecting intramuscularly but sub q instead, which is something I'm kind of interested in as well.

I'm very interested in ventroglute but for the life of me I can't figure out where the spot is. I've looked at all the diagrams and I still have no idea exactly where it is.

I feel like in the above picture I am pressing on my hip bone, but I don't know if it's my hip bone or the iliac crest they talk about. Would the ventroglute just be like 2-3 inches down from where I am pressing?

Thanks

Yeah...well I believe I found the spot but it seems like a very sensitive spot to inject a 1in needle (I might not even have it correct) I'm actually very nervous about trying it because it seems like a small place to get right and inject. A lot of bone around there too. I am going to have my Doc show me the spot before I try it just to make sure I have it correct. I don't want to inject in the wrong place.
Thanks for the help Vince.

I think most of us are using 1/2", even though alot of docs "insist" (mine included) that i inject in the quad muscle with a 1" needle.

The injection site is a lot bigger than it looks. It did take me some practice before I got comfortable injecting there. It's now my favorite place to inject.
