Hello Gentlemen,

I've been lurking on this site for a little while and I figured it's time to introduce myself...Here's my background: I'm at 25 year old male and I'm about to start TRT. Last summer, I had some blood work done by my PCP and the results showed low T (187 and 159 ng/dL). Like the good doctor he is, he put me straight on TRT without doing any further tests to see what the underlying cause of my low T was :(

Anyways, I decided to see an endocrinologist to get some further testing done. The endo immediately took me off the T (Test Cyp) so she could run more tests and it turned out that I am hypothyroid and possibly "partial hypopituitary", which I still don't understand what that means.

Long story short, I still have low T, LH, and FSH and I'm about to start back on TRT. I look forward to learning as much as I can from you guys through this process.

I always wonder how valid testing is when docs take you off trt to get baselines. How long were you off before she tested? If you were only off a week or two then your testosterone could have tanked as the exogenous left your system and your LH and FSH were still tanked from being suppressed. Just my random thought....

I was tested about 40 days after stopping trt. That was last November and my levels were at 274. I was just tested again a few weeks ago and I was at 163.

GettingAnswers is correct; if you were on Testosterone for any period of time you are HPTA suppressed and it normally doesn't restart on its own hence your low LH/FSH levels and low testosterone serum levels.

You need to discuss your HPTA suppression with your Doctor and about a restart protocol.

I did a few months ago and her response was "That is not a therapy accepted by endocrinology".

Just tell her that you are worried about your fertility, it is accepted by endocrinology as a fertility treatment.

Regardless, if he has a medical condition, even if self-induced, the Doctor has a freaking responsibility for God's sake to correct it!

This Doctor took an oath!

Fire this Doctor and seek one that can care for you correctly is what I'd do...in a heart beat!

Agreed, and I expect that is where this is heading, but nothing is lost by asking.
