Hello!

I was diagnosed with secondary hypogonadism and I am on Nebido every 10 weeks. I am experiencing horrific brain fog, fatigue and gyno too. I also have really bad black bags under my eyes, which dont go away with sleep. I went in to my doctor today about it to get bloods done for liver and kidney function as well as estradiol levels. I am from Ireland, so naturally I have been a heavy binge drinker from the age of about 17 or 18. Usually two nights a week and during the 4 years I spent in college probably 3 hard nights.

I stopped drinking about 4 weeks ago now and I will probably give up for good. Is high E from nebido common or is it likely that I have developed liver cirrhosis? Anyone else here that was a heavy drinker before going on TRT? Also would splitting the dose every 5 weeks possibly help? I'm a bit worried. I guess I will know more when the lab results come back. Thanks.

Welcome to Excelmale! We can offer you more in terms of feedback once you have labs to post. Do you have the lab values that your doctor ordered that resulted in you starting TRT? You're very young, at 24, to be on TRT, a treatment program that is typically life-long. What discussions have you and your doctor had about how you wound up presenting with androgen deficiency? Typically, someone your age is flushed with testosterone. Have you discussed your fertility? The more you can provide the more discussion we'll be able to have.

Hi CoastWatcher, thanks for the response. I went to my GP originally because I had really bad fatigue, brain fog and no matter how intensely I weight trained I literally couldn't put on the tiniest bit of muscle so I suspected low T. He did bloods and results came out at 150ng/dl. He referred me to an Endo who also did bloods and it came out exactly the same. My FSH and LH were at almost nil so they said the pituitary wasn't sending out the hormones to the crown jewels.

I read up on it a lot and saw that it could be due to head trauma. When I was about 4 years old I fell and severely fractured my skull towards the back of my head. I am fine now luckily. I definitely had low T whilst going through puberty... it occured much later than most of my friends and also my legs and arms are abnormally long (ape index 1.08) which is due to delayed puberty which is a telltale sign. Fertility was never really discussed. I remember the endo said that if I want to try to have kids they could switch me to hcg while trying for kids down the road. He never mentioned using hcg as part of my treatment.

I have just moved back to my home country (Ireland) and have a new endo here, who I saw once and will see in two weeks again. I called him a few days ago and mentioned about the slight acne, gyno and the brain fog and he didn't like the idea of starting me on an AI but was leaning towards taking me off nebido and getting me to use a gel instead but from what I read on forums people tend to say the topicals are garbage. When I told the GP that I used drink very heavily he said it might be worth a shot down the road to go off TRT and seeing what happens to my natural levels now that I am not drinking. I am going to wait though because I have an extremely busy year ahead as I am starting a masters in September.
