Advice about starting thyroid meds

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's due to the presence of antibodies, as well as family history of it (mother and sister).

Here are some results:
TPO at 36 (ref 0-34)

TgAB at 10.2 (ref 0-0.9)

TSH in the past year varied from 2.5 - 3.0 (ref 0.45-4.5)

T4 total ranged from 7.7-10.4 (ref 6.1-12.2)

T3 total ranged from 100-119 (ref 87-178)

Free T4 0.9 (ref 0.61-1.12)

Free T3 3.2 (ref 2.5-3.9)

Symptoms: T in the low 400's
Brain fog
Forgetfulness
Streaks of good days and then bad days
slightly elevated lympocytes (persistent over long term)
weight gain with reduced caloric intake - use to be lean 190 pounds at 5'10 eating 3500 calories per day. Over the years simply packed on fat - 225 pounds now, eating 1800 calories per day.

Doctor wants me to try 50mcg Levo and 10mcg Cytomel for a month and see how things go.

What do you guys think? I'm concerned about getting hyperthyroid response/side effects. Can/should I immediately stop medication if this occurs?

Testosterone deficiency isn’t defined by Total T. You could still have low or subpar Free T if SHBG is high enough.

I got hyperthyroid symptoms after my second dosage of T3/T4 combo, day two felt like I drank way too much coffee. A few days later things returned to normal after stopping.

I definitely would try your doctors thyroid protocol.

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
