Testosterone Increases Response to Stress

Nelson, why would cortisol rise when all one is doing is replacing what has been lost over time? Assuming a person is still in HRT range.

What supplements can help counteract this problem? I taek Mag Glycinate now but oculd do with something else. I fell a bit anxious during the day.

Thanks

Great question!

Most of us are injecting twice or once per week a dose ranging from 50 to 200 mg per injection. The male body (when healthy) produces 5 to 7 mg of testosterone daily. The peaks we expose our bodies even with smaller dose injections is much higher than what the body would see naturally in the morning. I think that affects the enzyme mentioned here

Would daily T creams or gels show less of an effect on cortisol? I do not know.

Thanks Nelson. I take around 25mg EOD. I do this to try limiting the conversion of T to E2. If this is the case (the peaks potentially causing this spike), what protocol would you suggest to limit this rise in cortisol?

Also, is there a supplement you would recommend to try counteracting this problem?

Do other people have a problem with cortisol on TRT?

Understanding Your Hormones

Estradiol (E2)

A form of estrogen produced from testosterone. Important for bone health, mood, and libido. Too high can cause side effects; too low can affect well-being.

DHT

Dihydrotestosterone is a potent androgen derived from testosterone. Affects hair growth, prostate health, and masculinization effects.

Free Testosterone

The biologically active form of testosterone not bound to proteins. Directly available for cellular uptake and biological effects.
